A New Chapter In My Life

Hi-
I am 45 years old and I want to get back on track so that I may run freely again without pain. I lost 100 pounds 6 years ago and have gained back half of it. I had been running regularly and went from running 5K's to half marathons to completing my first marathon in 2008. Unfortunately, I overtrained for that marathon and became overly obsessed with running not taking breaks when my body told me to. I ended up injuring my knee and began the slippery slope back to where I am today. I was able to train for and run a half marathon in the fall of 2010 and attempted another last February but was unable to run the entire thing because I was unable to train adequately largely due to my weight/eating issues. No more excuses and no more "trying". My new chapter in life starts now!!

Eat Right For Your Blood Type by Dr. Peter D'Adamo

I would say it's another fad but it so accurately described the way I felt after eating certain foods that I had to give a it a try and now that I've removed some things from my diet I fell a ton better! It is reeeeeeally hard to eat around chicken though, because everywhere you go it is the "healthy" option. I swear I'm part vegetarian now just out of necessity.

Surprisingly, I didn't mind the spinach on my sandwich - the flavor was lost under the muenster cheese, so it was only a little bit extra of a crunchy texture, which I can live with ;-) But I will try it pasta sauce. I was even thinking of using it next time I make homemade spaghetti.

You are so right! I never thought that I would think a run felt good! I used to do whatever it took to get out of running. Now I am so thankful that my body is somewhat cooperating (still having some sharp pains, but overall a lot better). Today I ran for 1 minute, walked 2:30, until I completed 2 miles. Once I get my pace back, I'll start trying to add on mileage. Seeing all the pictures from Disney's Princess 1/2 Marathon last weekend really motivates me. I really thought I was going to do it this year....maybe next? Keep up your awesome work!!

good luck on your outdoor run. Mine kicked me arse the other day, it's so different from the treadmill, it's a bit of a shock to the system.
Let me know how it goes!!!
