Kailua Beach - I can walk here from our house
Shared Food & Fitness Trackers
I'm a happily married 30-year-old woman, living in beautiful Hawaii with my wonderful husband, our son Benjamin, and our dog. I used SP to lose 15 pounds over five months in 2007, and it was great. Our son Benjamin was born in 2009, so of course I put weight on over the course of the pregnancy. I've successfully lost all of the baby weight, but would still like to lose another 10 lbs. Now that I am no longer nursing, my metabolism has slowed down, and caring for a 1-year-old makes it difficult to get to the gym. I try to squeeze in exercise where ever I can - walking the dog, hiking while wearing Ben, doing exercise DVDs early in the morning before he wakes up. However, I know that what I really need to focus on is tracking my food and staying in my caloric range. That is what helped me achieve success last time, and I know it will work again.
We live on the island of O'ahu but are going to Maui for Thanksgiving with our best friends, and I would like to be at my goal weight of 125 lbs by that point. I know I can do it, I just have to stay focused! So here we go - wish me luck - and I hope to share the journey with you!
Drink more water
Exercise in some form daily
Use the Nutrition Tracker daily
Walking my dog
Hiking while wearing my 28 lbs son
Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred DVD in the early morning
I'm originally from Virginia, but like many Virginia girls, I married a sailor. :)
I am an avid reader. Two MUST READ novels:
The Time Traveler's Wife
The Kite Runner
Completely different, yet both utterly amazing.

hey - way to go on your weight loss - you look great! I love your wedding dress and the fact that your husband wore his sailor gear to the wedding! I love it when guys do stuff like that. one of my bestfriends is scotish and shes dating an american and refuses to marry him unless he wears a kilt... gotta love tradition
anyway, thanks for you comments on virginity. yeah, im not that self conscious about it, since I know that if I wanted to, I could have done it when I was much younger.. but Im a romantic, and waiting for the perfect guy haha.. plus, sex isnt a huge appeal to me. (probably because i havent really had it yet hahah) but im more of a person that values other stuff.. you know?
anyway, thanks for your comment! good luck - im jealous youre less than 10lbs away from your goal!!

We currently live in Michigan - 4 years now, but we are originally from Central Indiana. I agree, Michigan winters are too cold! They also have a lot of gray days here and the summer season is short. It's amazing what going 5-6 hours south can do for climate.
We are between Detroit and Ann Arbor.
I have been many, many places, but never to Hawaii. My nephew is getting married on Hilo in December, on a cruise ship. We would have liked to have gone, but since they are departing from Hawaii and not from California, it doubled the price of the trip. It would have been $8,000+ for the 4 of us to attend his wedding. That's more than we spent to go to Europe for 2 weeks!

I am going to Maui TODAY!! Oooh, I'm so excited. I can't believe I haven't seen my family in 7 months....incredible.
Yeah, we definitely do the same thing with restaurants...last time we went out my husband was having a hard time because not only do we always go to the same places, but we usually order the same thing, haha. Why mess with a good thing, right?? I'm glad they don't have any of those coupons for Oahu (for me), I would be irritated for not having gotten to use them, haha. I'll have to check them out for NY (I just fly into NJ, I'm about an hour out of there).
Yeah, one way tickets are SUCH a rip off (side note: there is a board at the gym on post that has a bunch of flyers hanging from hooks, and on top of it, it says "PLEASE RIP ME OFF", and it makes me laugh every day when I leave, hehe"). If you can an open ended ticket to fly back, that might be worth it but....who knows. When I flew out here the first time though, in June, it was $550 for a one way. I think this is just so much because I am flying Continental. Round trips though are generally around $700, which considering the distance, isn't as bad as I'd think. And there definitely IS an off and on season. Like, I can tell you, it is tourist season now. I go to a chriopractor 3 times a week (trying to use up my appointments before I leave), and the traffic has gotten SO bad. People still visit all year round, but it is much busier during the summer.
Good call on getting rid of the winter clothes! I just got rid of a TON of clothes. I was keeping them because...I liked them. I never wanted them to fit again, but I liked them. So, I just got rid of it all. As a result, I seriously need to go shopping, but I think I'm going to wait until I start working. It's so sad, I'd say half my wardrobe right now is gym clothes.
Hehe, we are totally going to miss each other by a matter of days! It would have been cool to meet. I am leaving the first weekend in August. Things are extremely crazy here too, although I'm very glad we don't have anyone coming to our place, it is a disaster in here, haha. Good luck with all your last-minute craziness!
The Lanikai house sounds AWESOME!! I hope it will work out, it's such a nice area. Have you seen pictures or anything? I love it.
Have a great week! I'll talk to you when I get back :)
