Kailua Beach - I can walk here from our house
Shared Food & Fitness Trackers
I'm a happily married 30-year-old woman, living in beautiful Hawaii with my wonderful husband, our son Benjamin, and our dog. I used SP to lose 15 pounds over five months in 2007, and it was great. Our son Benjamin was born in 2009, so of course I put weight on over the course of the pregnancy. I've successfully lost all of the baby weight, but would still like to lose another 10 lbs. Now that I am no longer nursing, my metabolism has slowed down, and caring for a 1-year-old makes it difficult to get to the gym. I try to squeeze in exercise where ever I can - walking the dog, hiking while wearing Ben, doing exercise DVDs early in the morning before he wakes up. However, I know that what I really need to focus on is tracking my food and staying in my caloric range. That is what helped me achieve success last time, and I know it will work again.
We live on the island of O'ahu but are going to Maui for Thanksgiving with our best friends, and I would like to be at my goal weight of 125 lbs by that point. I know I can do it, I just have to stay focused! So here we go - wish me luck - and I hope to share the journey with you!
Drink more water
Exercise in some form daily
Use the Nutrition Tracker daily
Walking my dog
Hiking while wearing my 28 lbs son
Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred DVD in the early morning
I'm originally from Virginia, but like many Virginia girls, I married a sailor. :)
I am an avid reader. Two MUST READ novels:
The Time Traveler's Wife
The Kite Runner
Completely different, yet both utterly amazing.

Sorry it has been so long. For one reason or another I haven't been on here in awhile.
How is Hawaii going? It is too bad you weren't able to bring Maddie with you immediately, but I am sure she will fine waiting until you come back to get her, and much much better safe than sorry, right?
Have you been to Lanikai???
How is everything going on your end regarding your sparking, or just weight loss in general? In your last comment you mentioned that you went shopping and got lots of smaller sizes, yay! That is such a good feeling.
I have been back in NY for about a month now. It has been good, although very different. I actually love the gym here, it is interesting to be going to a gym that is not on an Army base. The people there are so nice, it has been fun. I had a good 3-4 weeks there where I couldn't work out at all, between Maui, my wisdom teeth, and moving, and I actually lost about 5 pounds, yikes (I say yikes, because it was probably all muscle). But my muscle is pretty much back, and my weight has only crept up a few pounds, so that has been good news as far as I am concerned.
And thanks for asking, the veggie-ism is going well. I think it is actually better because I now have an excuse to cook my own food, rather than eat a lot of my the packaged stuff my mom makes (she hates to cook, it's funny).
I hope everything is going well with you, give me an update when you get a chance!

Started again over the last week or so. Been doing pretty good. Also, in the last 3 days I have had a combined total of fewer than 10 cigarettes. I'm getting there!

Whew, I got back from Maui on Saturday and got my wisdom teeth out yesterday.
Maui was great. I think it wasn't the greatest time to go because it's the dry season so...everything looked pretty dead. On Oahu, everything is much more industrialized and landscaped, so it's prettier. I'm glad that we got to go, but it defintiely wasn't my favorite island (Big Island is still my absolute favorite). It was more just good to see my family. Also, my camera decided not to charge it's battery (may need a new one, it's pretty old), so I'll have to wait and post the ones my family took. I'm hoping my dad sends me his because I know he took a few bathing suit ones, and I want to put them up on my page.
Cleaning out my closet was such a great feeling. For the longest time I was keeping stuff for "just in case" because I really liked it. But I just gave it ALL away...no going back now!! I'm hoping that I'll lose a few more pounds even, before I have to buy a new wardrobe. With going to school for at least a year before I start student teaching, should give me some time.
Right now though, I'm feeling pretty mushy. As I think you may have gathered by now, my "thing" is defintely weight lifting...and I didn't get to go at all last week, obviously. And I can't really go this week, and then I'm going to be feverishly packing...so I've pretty much accepted that I might not be able to do anything but walk and run until I move, and....that is killing me!! I know I'll get back into it full-force though, but it's frustrating.
Sorry to hear the Lanikai house won't work, that's a bummer. Out of Kailua and Kaneohe though, I would DEFINITELY choose Kailua. I love it there, it's pretty much the only quintessential "beach town" on the island.
Hope you had a great week!!

Thanks for the comment on spray tanning! I love it and love doing it! My husband was stationed in Hawaii while in the Army and he loved it. I wish I knew him then, but one day we will visit the islands!
