AggieTerr's Journey to Fitness

I am 45, married, and have battled my weight since I was 5 years old. My goal is not so much to 'get skinny' , but to get healthy. I need to get off the yo-yo express of gaining/losing. My biggest problem, as I see it, is that I get busy during the day and don't eat at all, or pick at an unhealthy choice, then, when I get home from work in the evening, I am starving and binge. I am also a emotional eater. A dear friend introduced me to SparkPeople -- what a great place!

Wow! 4 years ago today I joined SparkPeople. What a great decision that was --I got to my 7th grade weight and fit into my prom dress and have finally been able to maintain my weight and get off the yo-yo. Now I am ready to venture into unknown territory.

Hello Weekly Challenge: Breakfast participants,

Iíve had some great responses to some of your breakfast ideas. Please stop by and update your post with any additional healthy breakfast ideas you have.
I came across this one and will be trying it soon:

Cranberry Muesli:

Ĺ C low-fat plain yogurt (Iíll be using Greek)
Ĺ c unsweetened or fruit juice sweetened cranberry juice (how about pomegranate, blueberry or even tart cherry juice?)
6 Tbls old fashioned rolled oats (not quick cooking or steel cut)
2 Tbls dried cranberries (or there are many other possibilities here as well)
1 Tbls unsalted sunflower seeds (I will be using dry toasted almonds)
1 Tbls wheat germ (how about flaxseed?)
2 tsp honey
ľ tsp vanilla extract
1/8 tsp salt

Combine yogurt, juice, oats, dried fruit, seeds, wheat germ, honey, vanilla and salt in a medium bowl; cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours and up to 1 day.

This recipe looked good and the different possibilities are endless.

Hi There!

Yes, Shrink Yourself is the best book by far that I have ever read on Bingeing and Emotional Eating....definitely hit the nail right on the head for me....

It was not an easy read as it really digs deep, but SO worth it!!
