AggieTerr's Journey to Fitness

I am 45, married, and have battled my weight since I was 5 years old. My goal is not so much to 'get skinny' , but to get healthy. I need to get off the yo-yo express of gaining/losing. My biggest problem, as I see it, is that I get busy during the day and don't eat at all, or pick at an unhealthy choice, then, when I get home from work in the evening, I am starving and binge. I am also a emotional eater. A dear friend introduced me to SparkPeople -- what a great place!

Wow! 4 years ago today I joined SparkPeople. What a great decision that was --I got to my 7th grade weight and fit into my prom dress and have finally been able to maintain my weight and get off the yo-yo. Now I am ready to venture into unknown territory.

Hi there! I'm obviously one of your sparkfriends but I wasn't around for a minute. Just wanted to say hello and see how you're doing. :) Holland

Hi Terr, I just had to come and add you, as I just joined the "Low carb for Dummies team". Morticia told me that you've had so much success and that it takes time to learn. I'm finding that out. How long has it taken you to lose with being on low carb? Are you doing Atkins with everything high fat or some other plan that's with the lowfat like South Beach? I'm still trying to figure out what would fit the bill because I love high fat and yet I want to lose. I tend to go high fat and then have a cookie or some candy and blow it all. I know that I can't be perfect but sure would like to be more serious at this. I know that I need help and are wondering if you could give me advice on what has worked for you. Thanks ahead of time!

Karen

You have inspired me! Congrats to you! What do you recommend for exercise for an exercise-hater? I absolutely HATE it. That is my biggest downfall. I am fine walking, but not walking with the intent on exercise. I try to walk at shopping centers to do window shopping or at the mall. emoticon
