I am getting ready to go to basic military training for the United States Air Force. I have to lose 3 pounds before my recruiter will send me for my physical and I won't have a ship date until I pass it. I also need to increase my running speed and gain strength to prepare myself for the physical demands of bmt.

My Goals:
My short term goal is to lose a few pounds so that my recruiter will send me to MEPS. My next goal over the next 3 months is to get in shape and get ready for bmt so I can excel there. Last time I really set my mind to losing weight was when my husband was in bmt. I lost 35 pounds in those 9 weeks by running and drinking lots of water. I have gained about 10 of those pounds back from sheer laziness and I want to turn that around. My long term goals are of course to get healthy and keep the weight off since it will be necessary to my career.

My Program:
Well, the first part of my program is to cancel my cable and get out of the house more. I am unemployed and the tv sucks me in, so I am hoping by canceling it I will naturally get out and burn more calories. The second part of my program is walking. I live by the beach, and I have been making it a point to go out for a walk everyday. For the past couple of weeks I have been running a mile and a half, trying to work up to more and increase my cardiovascular endurance. I also have been doing yoga, and a small amount of strength conditioning.

Personal Information:
I live in Biloxi, Ms. My name is Laura. My husband is in the Air Force and I plan on joining just as soon as I can, as soon as my recruiter will approve it.

Other Information:
I have been very fit in my life and very unfit. Each time I let it go, it seems harder and harder to get healthy again. I used to be able to do so much and I get discouraged early on. Just 6 months ago I was running 4 miles a day and going to the gym 5 days a week. Now it seems impossible to run a mile and a half.

    hey thanks for the blog response. I've been getting on youtube & looking up a few workouts, but they're never longer than 10 minutes and my heart rate doesn't stay up that way. I miss our netflix. they Do ship to APO addresses, but it takes 2-3 weeks in between movies. I got SO excited to see that they had movies & videos you could just watch online....I gave them 5 minutes to load, then got a message about how i'm not in the united states so i can't watch their movies online emoticon . its so rough not having your home comforts. and i'm so glad i'm not the only one who thinks that most of the women i meet are catty & bitchy at new bases. lol. but hey, at least it's giving the overseas wives one heck of a new respect for home.
    I'm sure you're next base will be nice. the first 6 months are the roughest, but after that you're adjusted and you find the little hole in the wall places that are so much fun! Good luck & thankyou for the advice!

    I know its crazy! Tmo comes on the 1st Josh graduates on the 2nd and we Fly out on the 3rd. Its coming up SO fast almost too fast. LOL I feel like Im not ready almost. But at the same time I way past ready.
    Im glad my note did inspire someone to join. the website is nice huh. Well anywho. I can come over tomorrow if you want to download the p90x. Just text me when you wake up or what ever. Do you have a flash drive cause thats all you would need to download them. The good thing about the work out is that its tough and confuses your muscles so you get an even better workout ya know. And Justin can totally do it with you!
