This is how I looked when I swam 50 to 60 laps every day and ate whatever I wanted. I'm embarrassed by this picture, but I share it to emphasize how important eating right is to staying healthy. Diet and exercise are two sides of the same proverbial coin.
Aeolius, Thank you so much for your kind wishes for the yoga class! ...it went very well, in an unorthodox sort of way...there were lots of beginners and it sure was a fun time. i'm going to blog about it as soon as i get my words together! ~Pam
Thanks for sharing your thoughts about food attitudes. I'm with you on the baking thing; use the real stuff and savor it. I'm always satisfied with one or two bites. The same goes for ice cream, non of the diet stuff.
RE: kayaking. It's my favorite activity of all time. It's a great upper body workout, plus there's something very soothing about being out on the water and close to nature. It's addicting though! Everytime I go out, I start planning the next time out.
One of my few regrets about living in New England is that the winters are cold and so no kayaking. I do snowshoeing then, but it's not the same.
