Anna's Do It Like You Mean It Challenge

My journey to finally deciding to be healthy started towards the end of my junior year in college. It was the Christmas break before the Winter Quarter when I went home. My journey to finally deciding to be healthy started towards the end of my junior year in college. It was the Christmas break before the Winter Quarter when I went home. I noticed that everyone in my family (including me) were just getting heavier. Since diabetes runs in the family (probably from all the white rice that we eat…hehe), I decided I can’t have that. Hence, the decision.

Ever since, I came to America (from the Philippines) 7 years ago, I have gone from a flabby 125 to an even flabbier 142 lbs even though I rode my bike to school (I went to UC Davis which is a big bike town in Northern California). I know that this may not sound like much to anyone but, to me, I felt like I just let myself go. So, from January 2007 until in September 2008 I was down to 130 lbs. That was a big feat for me because I mainly did it through trial and error. Today, I am down to anywhere between 122-126 lbs which is ideal for me. I have been able to maintain my weight and lifestyle for a very long time and even made the career switch as a fitness trainer.

The way I think about it is: we’re humans, we’re allowed to fall back every now and then but we can do whatever we set our hearts and minds to do, especially if we have each other.

Congrats on all your weight loss! I agree, it's that white rice, especially being in an asian family...when I lived with my parents, we ate rice everyday -that was before I started learning about healthy eating. Now that I'm married, I only eat white rice maybe once or twice a month. For me, recently it has been the takeout foods and stress that were factors in weight gain.

So what is this TT?
