Lose The Michelin Man Suit
I'm a 47 year old woman, happily single with no kids. I'm 5'6" and started SparkPeople at 243 lbs. This is definitely the heaviest time of my life. I was a healthy weight until I quit smoking 20 years ago. The latest 40 lbs came on in just the last 3 years, as I ate my way through the stress of some life changes. I'm a 47 year old woman, happily single with no kids. I'm 5'6" and started SparkPeople at 243 lbs. This is definitely the heaviest time of my life. I was a healthy weight until I quit smoking 20 years ago. The latest 40 lbs came on in just the last 3 years, as I ate my way through the stress of some life changes. I really want to get my mobility back. My right knee and right shoulder hurt sometimes. Even my rolls hurt when I'm in one position too long. Getting up off the floor is so ungraceful it's pitiful. I'm tired of feeling like I'm wearing a 100 lb Michelin man suit. My goal is to get to a healthy weight (155 lbs), and then see how much lower I can go and comfortably maintain it. I really liked my body at size 8, 130 lbs, which is what I was just before I quit smoking. I loved how clothes fit me and I liked that I thought nothing of breaking into an effortless jog every once in a while, because I was in a hurry and I felt so light. Realistically, that was a low weight for me and may not be feasible. My Program:
(1) Track all exercise and food calories, to maintain a daily deficit of 750-1000 calories (2) Exercise for 1 hour at least 5 days/wk (3) Cook/prepare virtually all meals at home
Personal Information:
I'm 47, single, with no kids. I was always a healthy weight until I quit smoking in 1990. And then I used food to deal with the stress of quitting smoking, going to night school for 7 years while working days, and transitioning from a career as an engineer to a career as a nurse.
Other Information:
Since watching "Food, Inc." and "Meet Your Meat" in March 2010, I've been avoiding all commercially-produced, agricultural/animal products. I look for "Certified Humane" and "Certified Organic" labels. I purchased a CSA share for the first time, from a local organic farm, for the 2010 season.
