Getting There Bit By Bit

I started to finally take my health and fitness into my hands this past summer (June 2011) with two bootcamp classes. I didn't lose any weight but definitely lost some of the jiggly bits around my hips and tummy, rear, etc. I ran (most of) my first 5k in December of that year. Around mid-January I started doing a lot of yoga at home with dvds, and some strength training at home. My Y is kind of far away and it takes a lot of time out of my day to get there during childwatch hours, workout, and ...

Around mid-January I started doing a lot of yoga at home with dvds, and some strength training at home. My Y is kind of far away and it takes a lot of time out of my day to get there during childwatch hours, workout, and get errands done before my eldest is home from school; but I have been really good about getting in at least four workouts a week, sometimes even six! I want to keep it up as well as improving other aspects of my health.

My Goals:
To lose weight, tone up, become a healthy exapmple for my children.

My Program:
I like to do lots of different things. Yoga, strength training, spinning, Zumba, etc.

Other Information:
I've got two 5Ks coming up in June. The Flower Power 5K, benefitting the Des Moines Botanical Center; and the Kansas City Color Run, benefitting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City.

Wooo Hooo! It's the weekend, be careful of all those goal breakers, plan for them and HAVE FUN! emoticon

Start tiny, use a pedometer, it's been a huge help to me. Find ways to increase your steps. USE every tool you have and all the helps here on the site including people.

Celebrate your victory's and acknowlege the bumps in the road but then move back on to the goals. Goals aren't set in stone...adjust, re-evaluate, determine what you are immediately capable of doing or changing and then always think about adjusting, re-evaluating and setting new challenges. I think people start out very hard and with the giant goals which isn't a great way to set yourself up for SWEET SUCCESS!

Start small, celebrate often!

You can do it!
