Hi, My name is Amy and I joined Spark People because I want to get down to the size I was 2 years ago. I feel that if I do this I will be healthier, happier, and more confident in myself. I am also a big emotional eater, and I would like to focus more on eating for hunger rather than boredom, sadness, etc.

The second semester of my freshman year of college I decided I wanted to lose weight and successfully lost 15 pounds. However, I just restricted my eating too much and lost weight purely from minimal calories. Well, when that year ended I went back home, always with food in front of my face and gained all the weight I lost, plus another 15 more.

I have been moping around trying to lose this weight for a year and a half now, and I'm just tired of trying. I want to be DOING IT.

If anyone had any advice on conquering cravings, keeping goals always in mind, or just anything at all i'd be glad to hear it!

Good Morning Amy! My name is Michelle and I joined Spark People because I'd love to fit in some jeans from college, and because I had a friend who did a 5K training plan and in 18 months she lost 60 pounds. She's my inspiration and Spark People is my motivation! I totally understand the need to just start DOING IT, instead of thinking about it!

I'm not sure if my advice will be any good but here's what I do. I always have a water bottle near me, and if I start to feel hungry I drink water. It fills me up and helps put more time between snacking.

Another thing I've done is after grocery shopping I immediately cut up the fruits and veggies and put them in food storage containers. I found that when I was hungry for a snack I'd want something fast, I didn't want to have to sit down and cut up a pineapple, cucumber or strawberries. When water just isn't enough and I need a snack I can go in the fridge and grab something healthy instead of chips or cookies. With my food already prepared I can just grab a handful of healthy and snack without feeling guilty!
