My Tri season has been terrible this year. Taking this break from all training is allowing me to reassess the next half of this year. Better to train for quality than quantity, in events, workouts and performance.

oh, yeh...2012 is 1/4 done, LOL!

This year's schedule will seem lighter than usual, as I'm training for a 1/2 Ironman (end April) and want to take the following 4 months off, before my next marathon training season begins.

Rest...does the body good...

Thanks, Coach for the positive attitude toward my "training" race. I'm actually glad I did it because I learned quite a few things about the process that will help me with my "real" half in two weeks.

Not the least of which is "don't turn Runkeeper on when the gun fires and you spend over two minutes walking to the start line from your place in back with the other slow runners! You will get a skewed pace report that averages that time in until suddenly you realize you are running 3 minutes faster than your JG training plan requires!

Whidbey Island will be MUCH hillier. Do you think I should try to do some strength training between now and then? And if so, what and when? Stairs next week? Weights? Or maybe just rest and plan on more walking?

One thing for sure, I am very, very grateful for Slow Fat Runners. Thanks for getting me out there. There were quite a few of us out there, amazingly enough. Yay!

Dennet - I'm happy to hear my comment meant enough to you to "snag" it. Just keep reminding yourself that you're worth all the effort it takes to stay healthy.
