I'm 27, a Christian, married to a wonderful man, working in drug and alcohol abuse prevention, and trying to lose weight!

Below is "My Story" about losing weight, etc. Now I am pregnant and trying to stay fit. Rather than use "Baby Fit" I am going to continue to use SP because there is a larger food bank when trying to track food! With BF, I had to manually enter in a lot of food and I just don't have time to do that. (: I've updated my goals to match that of pregnancy. I am already looking forward to getting any extra weight off after the baby is born and I'm free to exercise again!


My story: I've always been over weight for as long as I can remember. It bothered me, but I didn't think I could do anything about it. In 2005 I moved in with a friend of mine and we started exercising together with Leslie Sansone's walk away the pounds videos. I was 183 lbs at that time. With mostly just exercise and watching what I was eating (slightly) I lost 30 lbs by the end of 2006/beginning of 2007. My lowest known weight was 153 in May of 2007.

Then I got married. I gained a few pounds over the summer, a few more in the fall, few more in winter, and a about 5 in May of 08. So total it was 19 lbs. I was back to 172. Over the summer I lost a few lbs and the in the fall I lost about 7-9lbs. Then over Christmas and January with the death of my grandma, I stopped watching what i was eating and for about a month I did no exercise and gained back up to 163.

I had joined a yahoo group for Christian women trying to lose weight in the fall, but wasn't very active in it. I tried again in February to start losing weight. The women in my group suggested SP for tracking food and other things.

So on March 7, 2009 I joined SP and immediately found out one of my problems. Both days I tracked my food for the first time I was at about 2,000 calories for both days. (Giving myself a little slack because one of those meals was eaten out.) My calorie range is ~1250-1550. Hmmm, what is wrong with my eating? I gained weight after I got married because I started eating like my husband who needs more calories than I do!

I met my first goal two weeks early. I wanted to be my wedding weight and fit back into my clothes by our anniversary, June 2nd. I made it May 16th! woo!! My second goal was to be "safely" in the 140's, meaning 145-147. This goal was met! My final goal is 140 by the end of August (this was moved back from the end of July.)

Then I will be re-evaluating to see if I want to go to 133.

So far I've lost:
~24 lbs
~two/three pant sizes (instead of 14's I'm into 10's and 8's)
1 bra size

What I've gained:
Muscle- through some strength training and Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred
Confidence- I felt so fantastic getting new clothes last week. I liked what I saw!
Healthful attitude- choosing healthier things when I go out to eat, eating more vegetables
Portion control- eating portions for me not my husband!
The value of the calorie- "oh my gosh, that is HOW many calories in it???!!?"

How:

Couch to 5K training
SUPPORT through my yahoo group, SP buddies, my husband, and three of my closest friends
DOING IT, not just SAYING IT
Most importantly... God. He is the one who made me, He is giving me the brains to make healthy decisions, and I want to be healthy to do what I can for Him. (I mean I wouldn't be able to work with teenagers without energy, lol)

Fitness Minutes: 10,079

My Goals:
Initially with SP, I wanted to get down to 135lbs. I did actually get down to 138, but consistently was between 140 and 143 which is what I put as my "pre-pregnancy" weight.

Now I am pregnant and my goal was to keep weight gain between 25 and 35 lbs. At this point, that would be gaining .8 lb a week. So theoretically I should end up weighing no more than 178lbs....


My Program:
1. Tracking calories and learning to eat the right foods- more fruits and veggies

2. Exercise - 1 mile each morning 5X week
additionally 7 more miles throughout the week in the evenings (in 2, 3 or 4 mile groupings).


3. Strength Training/Prenatal -
Summer Sanders Prenatal workout, full length 3X week.

    I am truly inspired by your story! I am trying to lose weight after having a baby, and you have the right idea of getting in shape before baby! I have Jilliam Michaels boost your metabolism DVD, but it was way too hard for me. I have since switched to walk away the pounds! Keep up the great work!

    Hey there! I was out of town... went to visit a friend in Massachusetts. I'm back now though. :) I feel special because you missed me. haha.

    No idea about the scale but I don't think it's going to be good... I had very little control over my food for the last 4 days (including an entire 24 hours spent in airports. ugh) ... the good news is we did LOTS of walking around Boston and Falmouth (on Cape Cod).
