Today, May 20, we finished the 5% Spring 2016 Challenge. I was so hoping to get to the 5% Loss, but, unexpected medical problems prevented me from doing so. It was determined that there is a large, dense calcification near my rotator cuff and I can barely move my left arm and shoulder. It has been very painful, and I have to keep my arm in a sling for about 6 weeks. I was given a cortisone shot, hoping it will dissolve the calcium. If not, I will need to have my shoulder operated, which is not successful in most cases.
So, now, I am hoping every night to get a few hours of sleep. I did not during the first 8 days and still feel like a Zombie, although I had about 5 hours of sleep three nights ago, about 3 hrs. the night before last, but....about 6 hrs. last night. There is HOPE!

Update, June 3, 2016: I am sleeping so much better, now. Even have some range of motion in my shoulder. Returned to the Orthopedic Surgeon: No golf for the next 4 weeks. Can start with Physical Therapy next week. However, I had a bad time with AFIB this week, saw the Cardiologist and will be going through a slew of tests. No swimming, either. Even walking is difficult. For somebody who was always healthy and very active, this is so hard to deal with.

May 25, 2017.
I just returned back from Germany, my former home, after not having seen most of my family in 13 years. My husband passed away in Feb. and my children insisted that this would be a good time to see my sisters and brother. I had a glorious time. I also saw several cousins and my 97-year old godmother. With all the family celebrations I attended, I was surprised to return with only 1# gained. Now, I have to get used to the 9-hour time change, going through all the mail, unpacking, and getting organized.
Having lost about 15# since last May, I, immediately, returned to healthier food and my weight-loss journey. I purchased lots of fruit and vegetables, yesterday, and hope to lose a few more pounds. I have no definite goal in mind, just want to feel as good as I can at my age.

Continue to eat lots of fruit and vegetables. Eat protein 2 - 3 times a day, and work on drinking more water. Work out, almost daily, but no less than 5 days a week.



Personal Information:
I was born and grew up in Germany. Curiosity prompted a visit to the US and I never left. I am married to the love of my life. We have two sons and four grand daughters. In Aug. 2011, I celebrated 50 years in the US. Hard to believe. I had total hip replacement surgery in July 2010. I love walking, skiing, golfing, and swimming, When home, I work out with a trainer, twice a week, mainly strength training, to stay as active as I can.
