Ready to start the 5% Winter Challenge

I just realized that my introduction text was for the 2013 Winter Challenge which began on 2/23/13. The new Winter 5% Challenge, this year, started a month earlier on 1/18/14.
I have always weighed in on a Monday for another team I belonged to. Maybe, I should change it to the Challenge's Saturday weigh-in to avoid confusion. I started the year with 163#, and due to a lovely dinner out, with wine, this past Friday, I had to report 165.5# for our first weigh-in. I was not a happy ...

I have always weighed in on a Monday for another team I belonged to. Maybe, I should change it to the Challenge's Saturday weigh-in to avoid confusion. I started the year with 163#, and due to a lovely dinner out, with wine, this past Friday, I had to report 165.5# for our first weigh-in. I was not a happy camper, but am working hard to lose that extra weight by next Saturday. I am really watching my food intake and work out more than I have in a while. I hope I can keep this up, although, we will be leaving for the CA Desert next week, to spend Feb. and March in the sun (we hope). I hope that playing golf, walking, swimming and strength training, will keep my weight in check, despite eating out more frequently than at home. Wish me luck.
I am looking forward to getting to know all the new members of our Starfish team. Wishing all the 'Starfishies' good luck and perseverance. We can do it!

My Program:
Continue to eat lots of fruit and vegetables. Eat protein 2 - 3 times a day, and work on drinking more water. Work out, almost daily, but no less than 5 days a week.

Personal Information:
I was born and grew up in Germany. Curiosity prompted a visit to the US and I never left. I am married to the love of my life. We have two sons and four grand daughters. In Aug. 2011, I celebrated 50 years in the US. Hard to believe. I had total hip replacement surgery in July 2010. I love walking, skiing, golfing, swimming, and, out of necessity, strength training, to stay as active as I can.

I have been tested and I am allergic to the world- pets, grass, trees, dust, mold..... When I lived in California, my Allergy Doctor wanted me to strip my house down, no pets, weekly shots. I have over the years built up a resistance. I have noted some pets don't bother my allergies, like our terrier. Our daughter's lab has lots of fur and likes to be near me. It will work until the end of August. emoticon

I think my ongoing tiredness, earaches etc. may be an allergy to our daughter's dog. If that is the case I have two more months. emoticon

It was a pretty good week I tracked food all week, going over range two days. I drank lots of water and pushed the freggies. I was sensible with sugar except for two days. I didn't do a huge amount of exercise....still working on my health. Yes, the two pounds gone is nice! I am glad things are settling down for you.You'll do great on the Summer challenge!
