This is it...

Hmmm...my story.

Well, I have been overweight most of my life. Well, as long as I can remember. I was raised on bad eating habits, and am in the process of teaching myself better ones. It is hard when no one in my family has any sort of healthy habits.

The first success I remember having on a diet was with Atkins (aaahhhh!!!!!!!). However, that was short lived because I became so sick of meat that I actually stopped eating for a few years.

I was not a very healthy vegetarian either (think switching all sources of protien to additional sources of carbs) and gained a gallomp of weight. I also became very unhealthy and my body was so very unhappy.

I tried Jenny Craig when I was at my top weight of about 220. That worked great and I went down to 180. However, I didn't learn anything about eating on my own, and I when I couldn't afford to eat their meals 24/7 anymore, they basically shunned me from even coming to the center. Which was ridicolous because I paid something like $400 for a 2 or 3 year membership (I thought that included support even if you were only buying *some* of your meals from them...silly me!) After that, I unhappily started gaining weight again, until I was at about 200.

I was determined to stay below 200, so I joined Weightwatchers. WW was great for me at the time! I learned a lot more about what it takes to stay healthy in the real un-packaged food world. I dropped about 10+ pounds per month, and was actually below 150 last summer (2007). Those pictures to the left were taken last summer. I actually worked really hard most of the year to get skinny for a vacation we took in the summer, and it worked! The only problem was that after eating so few calories for so long, and then going on vacation, I was not ready to go back to eating 20 points a day. So...I unhappily spend the rest of the fall, winter and spring gaining 50 pounds.

I guess that almost brings me up to speed. I found sparkpeople and realized that this was what I needed to really get healthy! No more silly low-calorie diets. This time around, I am going to take my time getting slim by eating clean foods and exercising. I am going to use all the support and encouragement that this website has to offer and I am looking forward to losing this weight for the last time!
