Fresh tuna sashimi at the Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo. You can't beat it!

Okay, I am a master at what you may call 'The Angles.' I know which pictures/angles/lighting and whatnot make me look decent. I don't post other photos. HOWEVER. For your viewing pleasure... here is me versus your average Japanese man. I am Miss Godzilla.

Thunder thighs at a public foot onsen (hot spa) in Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture. They are my most hated body part. The others I hate pretty much equally, but the thighs conquer all.

I have 8 pics in my gallery

Japan - Not as good for dieting as I thought...

I'm living in Japan and working here as an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT). I live in the inaka (countryside) and no longer drive a car here, so I don't get out much. When I first came, I thought the weight would melt off of me living here... I mean, they're all skinny, right? Very, very wrong.

My Goals:
1. Wear the size 14 jeans thumbtacked to my wall that were handed down to me by a friend.

2. 10-year high school reunion will be in 2009. I want to be unrecognizeable.

3. Be able to play a sport without worrying about how much I jiggle... or the fact that if we lose, it's because of me.

My Program:
I highly prefer a low carb lifestyle to anything else, but living here, in the land of rice, I've found that to be quite impossible. So, I'm just trying to make healthy choices (whole grains where possible, fruits, veggies, etc.) and be more active.

Personal Information:
I'm originally from central Pennsylvania and lived there my whole life until I was 23... when I moved to Japan (Sept. 2004). I've been here for about three years now and expect to stay for another 2.... maybe. I use AIM most often of all the messenger programs. If you want to chat, as me for my name and send me yours!

Other Information:
Japan time is GMT +9:00, we do not have daylight savings time. So, for example, when it is 8AM on the east coast USA during the summer (after spring-forward), it's 9PM the same day here. In the winter (after fall-back), it's 10PM here.

LOL that may be true but EVERYWHERE you go is bad for a diet LOL. I kept telling myself that I was going to lose weight here because they don't have appitizers like we do statesdie it is mostly veggies. But then they have the added factor of the PASTA OMG I love the pasta!!!!!!!!!! So yeah didn't lose as much as I thought I would while being here but I am losing it now :D. Hopefully after we get done with Ray's (my hubby) school we can go to Japan :D He has already been to Japan and loved it but I want to go now.

Welcome. I think you'll love the support you find here.
I'll be rooting for you. I think we have some things in common, too. I live in MD (yes, far from Japan, but close to Penn.), teach English Literature, and loooove sushi:)
Good luck
