2014 - A year for Change

Prior to 2011 I lost approximately 40 pounds and learned to control my blood pressure through diet and exercise. Subsequently I developed back and leg problems and regained some of the weight. Through major changes in diet, I was still able to maintain the weight loss up until about a year ago when I moved to a new City to help care for my elderly mother. Through major changes in diet, I was still able to maintain the weight loss up until about a year ago when I moved to a new City to help care for my elderly mother. Since that time I have gradually regained the 40 pounds plus an additional 10 pounds and of course my blood pressure is no longer under control. My goal in 2014 is to lose the weight and get the pressure back under control. I previously lost the weight through participation in a faith based program called First Place 4 Health. The program was based at my church and the support I received from my fellow church members was a key factor. I have reconnected with some old friends and made news ones, but I have not yet found a faith based support group in my new location. I do better in a faith based weight loss program because such programs make me more responsive to God's Grace. Self discipline just does not do it for me, I need grace and the support of friends. I am blessed to have the continued support of many of my First Place friends at my church, but I need an additional support group.

Goodness! How did I miss your kind words on my Heart Attack blog!!! Thank you. Yes. Himself has recovered splendidly. the Doctor told him he was "recovered. not an invalid"

We are both doing better now that March has finally gotten here - at least via calendar.
