Yes...their bossiness is a good indicator of their health. Today in their usual form. This was a beautiful day. I spent time getting ready for the next onslaught of cold. Since I will close the doors to the wind and rain and keep everyone in the stalls and standing areas are clean and dry, water buckets and tubs filled, feed portioned and stocked for 2 weeks. Rather than bring the ewe lamb back inside I bedded her a stall in the barn. Sister is grazing now so the transition to hay should not be difficult. She is getting two bottles twice a day as is Merriweather the ram lamb who is in a stall across from her.
The ponies have been out for the day and probably till noon tomorrow.
You wondered if I was petite...oh yes...5'2. My year old pup is taller than I am when she stands up. She is occasionally challenging me with a low growl...today it was over possession of the wheelbarrow which held some eight buckets of sheep feed. I growled back and brandished a stick...she backed down...then sheepishly came back when I called to have her ears rubbed. I hate this part of their maturing. It will pass.

Nope, no one came after me with clubs. :) I've been a member of this organization for about 10-years and only been to a few meetings so this year decided to make an effort since the kids are older and don't need me as much and they only meet once-a-month. I did get good discounts on my plants at various greenhouses with my membership card every year, though.

Thanks for the welcome. A year late and a dollar short...isn't that how it goes. I thought it was sort of a myth how time flies by as we get older...so there went a year....zing...ups downs...births deaths....here I am again...at tax time...12 pounds heavier...boo hiss....but down 8 from sore mouth post dental visit. That is past and dealing with a fussy knee but all in all, everything always works out ok...so long as I don't give up...and I don't.
I have a beautiful, young livestock guardian dog who is shaping into a mighty protector...just a couple of glitches...she likes to chew the newborn lambs ears (this lamb crop is pretty raggedy looking) and she is 100 lbs and playful at almost 1 y/o. She will grow out of that foolishness...the next crop of lambs in Fall are probably safe enough.
Ponies are all good...fat, sassy, fuzzy.
Mom is doing wonderful. At 91..going on 92. She is still driving, shopping, bossing us all. She helped me bottlefeed two lambs this winter...and sometimes cooks dinner.
Well that's the news from NE Tx...checking in. emoticon

Wow! You are so right. I was helping him fit in all the classes he would need so he could apply for a state scholarship when the time came. It just didn't dawn on me that I'd probably be helping him fill out all those college applications, financial aide forms..... :)
