Greetings and - I'm really glad you've joined us!! Right now is a great time to get active with SparkPeople - it's a great community, wonderful resources and fantastic support- it's also lots of fun and easy to make friends because we're all in this together.
Sometimes the best way to start is to just pick a small goal such as drinking 8 glasses of water a day or eating 5 fruits and veggies plus a small exercise goal such as increasing whatever you've been doing by 10%. There's a great article explaining how one or two changes can lead to long-term success - you can read the article at http://www.dailyspark.com/blog.asp?p ost=one_healthy_change_leads_to_another . I like the way a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE is emphasized here instead of a 'quick fix wonder diet' and another nice thing about SparkPeople is that we have permission to be human - we don't have to change everything at once or be in a hurry to reach our goals. Take a few baby steps and then a few more and before you know it, you'll have completed a long journey - I hope you enjoy this community as much as I have - it teaches us how to make positive lifetime changes because that's the only thing that will work over time!

Hello, I too am new to this site and have been having alot of issues as well. I am 100 pounds overweight, been on thyroid meds for probably 10 years, taking depression meds, high blood pressure med and have sleep apena. I have no energy or motivation whats so ever and always tired. Sick and tired of being sick and tired! And I will be turning 40 this next year and feel like it is time to do something! My son will be graduating high school and my daughter will be getting her ass degree as well and think its time for a change. They have only seen me as being overweight and want them as well as hubby to be proud of me. Promised my daughter that if she went to college and graduated we would take a girls vacation. Well vacation is being planned for next winter and need to start doing something now to prepare! Refuse to go on another vacation being fat! Im not interested in being skinny, just want to be healthy and normal again. Last time I remember I was in high school when I felt good about myself, and even then Im sure there were times I said I looked and felt fat!
HI Beverly, Welcome back to SP! You will find lots of support here. Members are really helpful. One of the best ways to stay motivated and accountable is to be active on your Spark teams. Plus, that's a good way to meet Spark friends with similar interests.
