LaJolla Cove, a favorite play ground for many swimmers and divers, myself included.
Too fat, too many hills. Now I've lost 40 lbs, and gained muscle, making me faster and stronger.

When I eat healthy I enjoy my food all day
I believe nothing tastes or feels (being lazy) as good as being fit, slim and healthy feel.

A coach is a person who makes you do the things you don't want to do, so you can become the person you always wanted to be.
I discipline my body and make it my slave!
I reached my goal at 44 lbs, and I am maintaining my weight well. Sense I have been riding with the bike club it's real easy to loose any weight I but on. Even though I'm 66 I'm always trying to ride and swim faster, to get stronger and be more flexable.
I ride my bike with my bike club on Monday, Wednesday and Friday usually between 35 and 50 miles.
On Tuesday I have a body works and a Yoga class at LA Fitness.
Thur. and Sat I swim 2 miles
On Friday if I don't ride I help my wife with her bussiness.
Sat. I ride my bike, or swim. Sun. If I have time after church, I will ride or swim, depending on the weather and how I feel.
I'm Dennis Bovee, I am now 67 and I go by aqua-man because I love the ocean. I mostly swim because it keeps me in shape, but I also dive and kayak in La Jolla Ca.
I swim all year with no wet suit, a mile is easy but 2 miles and I get really cold in the winter. My wife Susan and I live in Hemet now, 80 miles north so I don't get to the ocean as much as I would like and when I do the cold really hurts because up here I swim in an 85 degree pool, while the ocean in the winter is in the 50's, but it really develops self disipline.
I love success stories, but I understand it when people fail. The biggest success stories are those who keep trying and don't give up.
The reason I can do the things I do at my age is I never let myself stay out shape vary long. I have pretty much worked out most of my life and I don't plan on quiting.

It's hard to describe turkish get ups. It's easier if you look it up, lol. They're an ab/balance exercise. About the mountain, people also call it El Capitan. It's the toughest hike in SD County, hands down.

Thanks so much for the trophy! That was very sweet of you. I wrote a blog with a little recap of the event so when you have a chance, check it out. It was a Sprint level Tri so 1/2 mile swim, 12 mile bike and 5k run. My swimming is getting a little better but I have so much room for improvement... in every category. I'll keep working on it. The lady who won the whole she-bang was from Kona, HI. She did the swim in 11 minutes.. a little torpedo... and not only that... she is 57 and was in my age wave! Thanks again for your thoughtfulness.. very much appreciated.

Thanks for your comment on my Floor Exercise blog.
I agree, at least a firm surface is better, but padded for sure. It actually aids the performance of double leg raises . My Chiroprator is surprised that I can do them at all. Mostly I just do the other types of exercises, and walking. It helps the stiffness of Arthritis to keep supple all over.

Ninety degrees sounds like a day at the spa... Warming up? Temps were in the thirties with a biting wind all day. As I type this it is SNOWING and ice is hitting the window panes. We are two days away from the official start of Spring. Although crocuses and daffodils have bravely started peeking out from their winter slumber they have now gotten a rude awakening for their efforts. NOT HAPPY!
Now that the rant is over, thank you for the lovely, lovely rose and for your note. I see you've been "moving man" for a few days - that's always tiring but how nice of you to help out. I'm sure your friends appreciated it! Get some rest and enjoy that fabulous California weather...

I see a birthday goodie from a mutual friend, Bill60. Was March 3rd your birthday? If so, I'm tardy to the party but with belated wishes for all the best and many, many more!
