When I was in 8th grade, some friends of my older brother that I easily 'crushed' on, said to me, "You'd be HOT if you'd lose about 15 pounds!" That may sound really rude, but I just took that constructive criticism and started doing sit-ups every night. I think I did around 100 every day. Needless to say - I had rock hard abs!
All through high school I remained active with cheerleading, volleyball and my own exercise routine. I even got into lifting weights on my own just to see definition in my body. I loved the way I looked when I flexed! Silly, I know - but I felt great! I was always around 115-120 pounds - and usually wore a size 8. My "levi" measurements were 28-36 (for all you levi wearers, you know what that means). I had the dream measurements of the old "Commadores" song "Brick House" - 36-24-36!
I got married at age 22, at age 23 I got pregnant and that's when my weight ballooned!!! I went from a 34B bra size to . . . I don't even know how huge, but it was HUGE! I couldn't stand it. I probably gained 50-60 pounds during the pregnancy. I got back down to about 145 (which was still 25 pounds to lose in my book), when we moved across the country. That started a really bad cycle of eating at fast food joints and not exercising. It's been a total roller coaster for the past 18 years!! My daughter is now 18 and I weigh 188 lbs!
I go through cycles of good eating and fitness but they don't last. I haven't been able to make a permanent change in my life yet. I'll do really good and exercising, get good results, then go on a trip or something that messes with my routine and I quit. Then I don't watch what i eat, don't exercise, and gain it all back, then the whole cycle starts again when I get disgusted enough to start exercising again.
I'm really tired of this rollercoaster ride! I'm hoping SparkPeople can help me create the habits that will last and change my life for good!

4/23/10 - 10 lbs!
179 - DONE!
I'm trying to listen to my body when eating so that I stop when I'm only 80 percent full - not overly stuffed and hurting!
Also eating fresher foods with NO processing! Fresh veggies, fruits, etc.
I started out small with 10 minutes on the elliptical at 5:30 in the morning.
I built that up to 30 minutes. Then that became too boring.
Now I'm doing Turbo Jam. It's a welcome change and I go longer and burn more calories. I'm loving it!
I'm a very positive person for the most part. But if I have to shop for clothes . . . that's when I get depressed! I hope to change all that to where shopping is fun and exciting again.
