One Adventure at a Time

I don’t use the term “adventure” loosely. I daydream about doing things that create a moment, a memory, or a story to share. The difference between me and countless others who daydream is an urgency or obsession if you know me, to take those images in my mind and turn them into realities. So I plan adventures and set out to do them. Some are accomplished in minutes, a day, a year, or maybe a lifetime. They are places to see, things to accomplish, a path to travel, or an experience that pushes one or more of my senses into overdrive. Everyday has an opportunity just waiting to be recognized and taken, yet many get filed somewhere as a missed opportunity. And then there are those forces around me strategically placing obstacles in my path attempting to discourage or divert my attention. You know them well; work, finances, and events that can unfortunately be described as responsibilities. The only weapon I use to tame these forces is a balance and the strength to say “no” and then go 1_more_mile guilt free because the adventure I’m about to accomplish is … important to me.

I'm sorry you're having TMJ issues! emoticon So painful.

Mine was resolved through (1) physical therapy (which I hadn't known could be used on such a small body part as the jaw!) & later (2) STOPPING use of a mouth guard (worn at night) that had been made for me early on. A mouth guard is sometimes enough to fix the problem, so I'm not knocking it. I think the problem was that the PT altered my jaw's alignment just enough that the mouth guard no longer fit precisely. Once I stopped using it, the pain faded pretty quickly.

I hope you have insurance that will cover either/both of these. Given my experience, I do recommend some weeks/months of PT FIRST, & only then getting a mouth guard if needed.

Feel better soon!
