Welcome to my Spark Page! Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I have struggled with my weight since college. Prior to my Freshman year, I was always athletic and participated in organized sports. I was a Junionr Olympic gold medalist and I was recruited for my college track team where I was having a great season... up until I tore several ligaments in my knee. That was the beginning of my weight issues. I continued to eat like I was still running miles a day. The problem was that until I had gained over 30 pounds, I didn't even notice! Well, It kept going until I was in REALLY bad shape. The worst part is that I was only 24 years old.

Finally, I knew I had to do something. My mom had great success with the Atkins diet. So - I tried it and lost nearly 100 pounds. I felt great and I was just getting to where I wanted to be... then I found out I was pregnant! I had to stop the Atkins diet so that I wouldn't cause problems for my baby. She was born about 5 years ago, and I am still trying to lose some of the baby weight.....

The biggest problem with the Low Carb diet/lifestyle is that I find if I stray even just a little, the yoyo is ready and waiting for me! I just can't continue to do the yo-yo, it makes me "motion sick" :)!

And - that is why I am here! To lose the weight that NEEDS to go... and become a good example for my little girl, after all, she mimics everything that I do.

UPDATE: Having lost 23 total pounds in the workplace "biggest loser" competition, I just dropped another size! I have lost a good chunk of weight and I am really motivated to keep going. In 7 lbs - I promise to reward myself with a "non-food" award.... the EA Active game for the Wii! I can't wait!

UPDATE #2: Achieved the goal of getting the EA Active game for the Wii! And what an AMAZING workout! I did fall off the "bandwagon" and gained about 10 pounds over the holiday. I now have a handle on the fact that there is no good reason for the weight gain other than eating too much and not exercising. I am back in the "routine" as of the new year and I am motivated to make this the year that I finally reach my "goal weight" - slowly and properly! By thew way - work "biggest loser" contest number 2 is coming next week! I love the motivation that this brings to me!

The weight seems tob e coming off. However, I continue to struggle with fitting in exercise!
