    I think making a quilt of the old man/soldier would be awesome! It gives me chills just thinking about it!

    I looked at the photo and immediately thought of my Pop. He too was all bent over and he served well in WWII, mostly in North Africa I think. I learned most of what he did, after he passed, when I was working on his obituary. Like many in that age/war group, he didn't want to discuss it.

    I learned he was at Normandy - he told my sister that it was a matter of luck which side of the beach you debarked at (not sure if that is the right word).
    After he passed, I learned he helped to liberate the concentration camps. I never knew because he didn't want to talk about it with me. Being Jewish, I think it hit him harder. No one wanted to discuss WWII in the Project I grew up in, made up of mostly Jewish refugees.
