"Moving Meditation"

I love walking. It's "moving meditation." And it feels good. I haven't been walking nearly enough lately but plan to get back at it.

I'm currently following South Beach Lifestyle and have lost 15 pounds. I love junk food. I hate my job and sit at my desk all day wanting junk. The walking seems to be keeping me at a stable weight, e, but it's easier to not succumb now that I'm low- carb and mostly sugar- free.

My Goals:
I'm overweight. I weigh 157 (I'm 5'5") and according to doctor and insurance charts, I'm just barely in the recommended range (BMI is 26). I want some belly fat and extra rolls around my waist to be gone. I'm aiming for 140, then we'll see--I may adjust down from there.

My Program:
I'm walking an hour a day, 5 days a week. I do two 15-minute walks and a 30-minute walk (breaks and lunch at work). Sometimes I walk a bit extra at home, but not on a regular basis, so I don't really count that. Besides, if it's raining I may skip a walk or two.

I do wall pushups to help keep a bit of strength in my arms. I've never had much upper body strength.


Personal Information:
I live in El Cajon, CA in a semi-rural area, with no sidewalks. (El Cajon is a suburb of San Diego.)

I live with my husband and 2 dogs. I also have 3 nonfurry kids, a son and 2 daughters, all of them grown and on their own.


Other Information:
I'm not too much into TV. I love books. I have a Kindle that I carry with me almost everywhere.

I love walking alone (so I can think instead of carrying on a conversation).

I love my dogs. They are more entertaining than a lot of people I've met.
