Well, here we are, August of 2011. Good news? I've had a contract position at a fortune 500 company since April 1. My weight is at 164 (remember, I'm 5'9")- so I lost weight during all this. Bad news? None I guess, but it's such a strange world we live in now. I don't know if I can ever think about having a full time job with benefits again. You get paid a lot more as contract...and my boss is cool. Tells me to clock 8 hours when the department gets off early. But what a different world.
I'm saving $$$ everyday to improve this house. I've lived here 13 years (bought the house new), and have yet to replace the carpet. I love when the full-time-permanent people at work call in sick because the overtime I make is ridiculous! So, I'm saving and adjusting. My kids are doing outstanding. And I figure, if after all this, not only are we "still" happy, but "happier" than the worst thing I thought could happen (being laid off) may be the best thing that ever happened. I still drive a car over 15 years old, but I paid cash for it then, and it has proved itself worthy! Gotta love a Honda!
Looking forward to nine more pounds and an improving market in the USA. Cheers to all as you continue through your own personal journeys. 2087 days ago
Good for you to make a commitment to building a healthy and active lifestyle! Keep your focus on taking care of your health and wellness as you go through the tough times that unemployment brings and you will prime yourself for opportunities which are bound to present themselves!
