In Fall 2007, while at an all time high weight of about 205, I went to the doctor for a bad cold and got a wake-up call instead. My doctor painted an unpleasant picture of my health, and I was forced to confront my weight instead of ignoring it. I began improving my lifestyle, and joined Spark in Feb of 2008. Throughout 2008, I was doing great at monitoring my diet and exercising regularly, and I lost about 35 pounds, getting down to 170/171. Since that time, I have been working on trying to maintain that weight loss. Through injury and other setbacks here and there, my weight has vacillated over the past 4 years. I used to freak out more gaining, but now I try to be more realistic and less judgmental about my ups and downs - I am human after all.
I am always trying to improve!!!!
My plan - these are my minimums which I try to exceed:
- Go to the gym at least once a week
- Weightlift at least once a week
- Run on the road at least once a week
- Do other activities, such as hiking and playing tennis on the other days of the week
- Work on eating only reasonable portions
- Cook healthy at home
- Get back to eating super foods (instead of processed stuff!) Veggies and lean protein! Veggies at every meal!
- Find new activities to keep fitness fun
I really enjoy weightlifting, playing tennis, hiking, and I like running too, although I am still pretty novice at it. I am striving to make fitness a more normal part of my routine. I really admire people who have really just built it into their lives - I am still working on that. As for diet, there is plenty of room for improvement. I try to eat smart, but I'll have to get smarter if I want to start losing again and not just maintaining. ;) Also, I have some weird body image issues I need to work on, which I find challenging. If anyone has any advice on that, I am super interested. I have also recently started working proactively on being mindful about my stress levels and anxiety issues, and I have found that to be super helpful for my health.

- Exceed my own expectations of myself!!! Run further, work out more, eat better and be more kind to myself!

ACCOMPLISHED! I achieved both of those things, but I leave them up to remind me of how far I have come!
My program right now is just to get back with the program! Which is this: go to the gym at least once a week, lift at least once a week, run on the road at least once a week, do additional cardio outside of the gym, push myself, track eating, and to be bold about pursuing fitness and trying new things.
I'm single, live in LA and I am a writer. I work in television as a producer for a network you may get with your cable, but my real ambition out here is to get paid to write. Balancing my writing and fitness goals is always a challenge.
I love to read - literature, bestsellers, and lately a lot of books about Buddhist Psychology. I love to get outside and hike or visit the beach. I also like night life and being out with friends. I like great writing, fun design, driving when there is no traffic, Halloween, funny people, bright makeup, good movies, shoes and relaxing with my family! :)
