My name's Raine. I'm 32 years old and have spent the past 5 years working from home and taking college classes, which means a lot of time spent sitting in front of a computer and not much exercise. I joined SparkPeople for support and community and to help me make healthier choices and set a good example for my son.

I have been overweight since puberty. I had tried to lose weight at times in the past but fell into unhealthy ways of doing it (nonpurging bulimia - I'd binge and then not eat or eat way under 1,000 calories a day to try to make up for it) that just resulted in more weight gain. I sort of "settled" around 265-280 for most of my late 20s & was pretty content there because I didn't have any weight-related health problems and was still able to be pretty active.

Most of my family members were overweight (my mom and sister have both had gastric bypass and my dad lost 60+ pounds while battling cancer), so it was easy to blame it on my metabolism or genetics and not do anything to change it. Until I hit the point where my size actually did start to slow me down, the only problems I had from it were other people's rude comments and not being able to find clothes I liked in my size.

That changed I gave birth to a son in 2010. I was thrilled, because PCOS had caused me 10 years of infertility, but pregnancy caused a thyroid imbalance which left me gaining 40+ pounds after my son's birth. Being more sedentary because of postpartum depression and losing a job where I'd been on my feet all day, combined with poor eating habits and too much time sitting in front of the computer, meant I got up over 325 pounds. I'm lucky to have no weight-related health conditions, but I am ready to build my energy and endurance up and stop carrying around all this excess weight.

My long term goal is to lose over 150 pounds and be down to my goal weight of 165 within 3 years (2018). My fitness goals start with being able to run a half mile and stretch through to a long-term goal of completing an Iron-distance triathlon.

Fitness Minutes: 44

My Goals:
To get at least 30 minutes of exercise a day.

To spend at least 15 minutes a day de-cluttering & 15 minutes doing actual cleaning.

To remove 1 unneeded item per day from my home & to get rid of 2 things for each 1 thing I bring into it.

To drink at least 8 glasses of water per day.

To lose 150 pounds and be down to my goal weight of 165 by the end of 2014.

To run a 5k in 2013.
To build up my running and biking distances, and start swimming, with the ultimate long-term (3-5yr) goal of completing an Iron-distance triathlon.


My Program:
Working out at the gym 3-4 days a week (cardio boot camp & weight routines) and walking, swimming, or doing other activities on the "off" days.

Drinking more water and less juice and soda.

Tracking what I eat to make better choices and focusing on portion control. Limiting carbs, but not sure to what extent yet.

I'm 32, a stay-at-home mom, with a 4 year old son.

I live in the foothills of western North Carolina.

I'm a recovering hoarder and FlyBaby, so I will be using the goal tracking tools on here to help me de-clutter and clean, as well as to get in shape.
