James getting back to his younger weight

I'm in my early 50's and 5'8" tall. I've battled my weight since I was about 15 years old. My highest weight was 217 pounds and is now on its way down.

My initial target weight was 168. I achieved that but still had some obvious fat on my belly and kidney areas. If there is fat on the outside of you then your body couldn't put any more fat on the inside of you and continued on the exterior. So my goal is to loose the exterior fat. My new goal is 155.

From about November 2012 until the present I've been eating low carb but not the Ideal Protein products (well probably 2 per week rather than 3 per day when on the plan). My weight is steady and my type 2 diabetes is under control. My doctor was very happy with my HGA1C test that shows about a 3 month blood sugar average.

April 2013 - I'm now beginning my last 10 pound loss. I'm at about 165 lbs. I'm maintaining well and happy with what I'm eating, though it is different than before I started Ideal Protein and then low carb eating. I'll be happy if I do this in 10 weeks.

July 2013 - My weight is unchanged, still 10 pounds away, but diabetes is still under control and that is a big victory in addition to the rolls of fat being gone. Also I'm basically eating the quantities of food that I want to eat, that is not a struggle. I just have to choose low carb things to start with.

okay Mr. James, :) NO I DO NOT WANT TO DO A MILE! :) I want to get back to my daily 5 or 6. Coming from Michigan the weather stops us from biking in late October so after that I ride my indoor bike to nowhere. :) So I am not new to biking, I just need to move my fat butt to get back into a routine. This is a terrible time of year as I am so addicted to sweets. The only thing that I can usually follow is low carb as I do love meat. But I do try to keep some fruit berries, cheeses, and low carb veggies involved just because I have to. :) I feel like someone is keeping track of me and it really helped as I was going to have a great big cookie with my morning tea. Well, good for me, after seeing your comment, I let the cookie go and am giving all the Christmas goodies to my grandbabies. :) Take care and get that extra 10 off. Hugs, J emoticon

James, thanks for the comment on my comment. :) Yes, to stay involved does make it a lot easier. By reading your spark page it looks like you have gotten to your first goal but not to your second goal of 155 yet. Hey kid, what cha waitin' for? :) Lets get movin' and it will be gone. We girls want to see that muscle mass and no fat wrinkles. :) Seriously James, good luck and show us how to do it. Hugs, Jude/daisypetal emoticon

Thanks for the huddle comment. The surgery wasn't lung or other cancer related (aka due to smoking) it was due to a defect in the ear. But I figured, I'd been thinking about quitting, and since I would be in the hospital and then home... I just decided to use it as a launching platform. I know... I just "decided" it was time. If that makes sense.

No I don't count anything. I'm started Erica White's Beat Candida plan about 6 weeks ago, which is a really strict diet with no sugar, no fruit, lots of vitamin pills, no yeast and no lots of other things. I heard that people who have candida often have food intolerances, so I thought that, while I was watching what I ate so strictly, I would take the opportunity to do pulse tests to see if I had any intolerances. I found out I'm intolerant to oats, wheat, corn, Greek-style yogurt, natural yoghurt, and maybe butter. Not intolerant to rye or barley though, so I think that means I'm not gluten intolerant. Phew! Still testing. Half way through reading wheat belly. And am also transitioning to a 4 day rotation diet to help cure my intolerances and prevent new ones. Didn't realise I would be making all these discoveries/changes when I started 6 weeks ago! :-)
