I had 2 strokes in 1999 when I was 32 caused by a condition called Central Nervous System Vasculitis. I was already 25 pounds over weight when I got sick and between medication and my balance issues I gained a lot of weight. I was 280 pounds at my highest weight. I have some disabilities from the strokes so my exercise is somewhat limited to mostly walking.
Cheryl, the great thing about having carbs low enouh to be in ketosis is that you don't get very hungry. The best way I can describe it for me is that when you do get hungry the thought of food comes to your mind, but it's never urgent, because it is not caused by low blood sugars. Delaying a meal by a few hours is not a big deal, just this background thought that some food soon would be nice. Interestingly enough, my husband almost always feels that way, even on more carbs.
Cheryl, I haven't eaten any processed meat like sausages etc for a long while.... mostly because they are so high in sodium, but I wouldn't be surprised if they also cause me to put on weight because of the preservatives... not something that I am going to test in the near future, but I'll keep an eye on it if they ever work their way into my diet, thanks!
