Lower carb is working really well for me. I am staying below 150 carbs a day and its simple and easy to do. I started a new job in June and my life has been crazy busy. I work from home and most of my training was also done at home, thank gawd because getting up at 5 AM to get to the office and logged in by 8 AM is a nightmare and makes me realise how blessed I am to be able to work from home for a really great company. Not to mention the hour and a half spent commuting to and from, being dressed nice, packing a lunch. Its exhausting for me due to the strokes and my CNSV condition. Before the strokes I had a crazy busy job, two young kids, was going to school, had so many commitments but I loved it. After stroke, no way no how.

The energy is limited, issues from stroke causing cognitive problems, limited use of my left hand, I have limits now, and going past them is not an option, unless I would like a relapse of my condition. The Fibromyalgia Spoon theory is part of my life. well. Anyone living with an ongoing disability or condition will understand what I'm saying.

So my weight loss has been good. I'm down under 200 again finally. I am holding right now, PMS suddenly became an issue after six months of being MIA.
I noticed since it showed up my weight is at a standstill, but that's ok, I will continue to do my thing and this plateau will pass.

I have been weighing EVERYTHING and tracking EVERYTHING. My daughter started tracking and got me motivated to get back to it.

I started January 22nd. After three months of tracking and weighing everything religiously, most importantly, honestly, I had only lost like four pounds that kept fluctuating up and down. I was supposed to be losing 1 pound and a half a week. I knew I was usually within 100 calories for my set amount, I rarely went over, I was walking over 60 minutes a day.

Since the "calories in calories out" was failing, I did some research with the end result being me identifying with a body type called "Endo-Meso" with a carbohydrate sensitivity, which led to me reading about carb cycling and low carb eating. Low carb eating never interested me, ever. I like bread and pasta, I did not want to give them up!

After reading about low carb and ketosis, which you reach by eating from 20 to 50 carbs or less a day the carb cycling sounded feasible. High carb days, switching with low carb days. But further research showed it to be just too much for me to deal with. SO, I picked 150 carbs as my limit for the day, with a "higher" carb day here and there just to keep my body from hitting a rut. The 150 was chosen because the bodybuilder calculator said that would work for me to lose weight.

So I'm not low carb, I'm moderate carb. I don't miss the pasta because I had mostly cut it out due to it being small portion high calorie, not worth eating. Now I make zucchini pasta, which is delicious!

I started the lower carb seriously on April 12th weighing in at 216. On May 1st I weighed 210. My weight was steadily going down, no fluctuations. I lost 6 pounds in 18 days.

I paid for an app called "Carb manager" to help me with the net carb thing. Its figuring the "real" carbs minus the fiber. It really makes a surprisingly big difference doing the net carbs. The app is not the best, it is kind of clunky. It is really annoying to start out with another app after using Lose it for so long, I have to build a new food base.

The cool thing is, the carb app dumps into the Apple health app (shares info) which then dumps into the Lose it app, so I won't lose my 105 day logging streak, plus I have friends and challenges on that site. Just like I have here on Sparkpeople. I need all three sites to keep me on track and moving forward!

I am just so happy to find what works for me, finally after years of trying and losing, gaining it back, losing it, gaining it back depriving myself to lose a couple more pounds.

This is pretty simple. I like what I eat, I have a crazy amount of energy, no more heartburn or indigestion, which I do get when I eat stuff like oatmeal. For the first time in my dieting life cycle I truly believe I can reach my goal of 130 pounds. I never really believed I could. I tried, but losing weight was just so difficult for me, I just kept trying and getting nowhere. My "fat" clothes are back to being lose again. Soon I will be back to 190, where I was at two years ago when my son had the accident that basically was the beginning of the falling off the wagon that ended up with me being 225 again! I hate going backwards!

As long as we get back up and move forward it's not a fail, just a setback!
I learned for me, it's about how much I eat in combination with what I am eating. The calories in cannot be high carbohydrates!

Thanks for your comments on my blog. I have been doing great with the winter and spring challenge, but have stalled with busy schedule. Time to get back to tracking this week, and I also should be able to get all my exercise in. Yay!

Hi, thanks for commenting on my page. I have been tracking my food, drinking water, and walking like crazy. I walk so much my knees hurt sometimes. So far this year I have only been able to maintain. I go up and come down, never going below 214. After reading about you, I'm going to try the low carb thing. I already lowered my sodium intake but my carb intake is still a little high. Thanks for the idea and motivation. emoticon
