Ever since I was a 92kg 15 yr old I've wanted to be 88kg, well I've tried all sorts of diets, some I've loved, some I've hated, and well they've all left me feeling deprived, annoyed, and wishing I could just eat normally. For years I believed the "breakfast is important" mantra, and made sure I ate it every day, even when I didn't want it, until it became that I had to have it.
I reached what was my highest weight in Nov 2009, the day I left hospital with my one week old baby, I couldn't resist the scales at my grandad's house and saw 151kg. I couldn't enjoy just being at home with my newborn because I was constantly worried about timing my meals with hers and the medication I had to take, but I managed to settle around 148kg without much work. I discovered more about fasting after my brother talked to me about it and in 2012 I got my weight down to seeing 129.9kg on the scale, for one day I felt incredible, then I let my fasting slip, I went on a mini pill (not wanting pregnancy to derail my efforts) and then in 3 months (realising the problem when refilling my prescription) I'd gained back 20kg!! We then had a year of moving in with my parents to save money for buying a home, it was a very stressful 9 months and I ate a lot of junk. We moved into our own home, my husband changed his job, we got a dog, had the dog put down, I've had work stress... all sorts... but as the saying goes "the time will pass anyway" we've tried to have more children but haven't been lucky enough yet.
So here I am having had good results since getting back from my holiday in Australia, and I want to keep going. I'm trying different methods each week to get to my goal and I will keep going until I see that 88kg goal that I set in 1996, it is going to take a while but I will get there.

Hi, Adrienne! Just wondering... are you still interested in leading the 'Fasting for Weight Loss' team? SparkPeople just flagged it as a leaderless team, and we are discussing what to do about leadership. Thoughts?

I got to my lowest weight of my adult life when I wasn't actually dieting but I did try not to eat when I wasn't hungry. I ended up happily having two meals most days and sometimes just one pretty rich one. I was a tourist in India, doing a fair amount of walking. I can't completely recreate that experience here, but I CAN get in at least two days a week of CR, and that's just about no matter WHAT I'm doing. But, I do live alone and rarely have anyone monitoring me.

I'm on your side to face down those obstacles! You deserve the benefits.

How's the fasting going? Is it routine now? The promoters say it can be a permanent lifestyle. For health reasons, I believe it, but in your experience, do most people just do as a weight loss technique and then stop, like "dieters" do?

Thanks for the comments on my spark blog. I like your goals for February! I thought about adding sleep... but I really don't know how to STAY asleep most nights! The water goal will be easy... if I remember it... and the fasting won't be a problem. It's the eating days I need to worry about! Good luck to you, Adrienne. Hope Poppy has a great day back at school next week!

Glad to know I am not the only one with this problem. He likes apples, granola bars, carrot sticks. BUT he wont eat an apple unless I offer to do all the prep work and get it cut for him, he wont just reach for carrot sticks unless I mention it to him. The granola bars he is under the assumption that they should fill him up... which obviously they don't especially if you BELIEVE they don't. They are made to tide you over not to be a meal. He doesn't eat in the morning and so only eats what he packs for lunch and what ever later at home... Which is where the problem is as he has found all my hiding spots and has little control. I wish he would fill up on dinner which would help. He is just lazy!! lol

Maybe between the two of us ladies we can figure something out!
