I reached GOAL on April Fools' Day, 2016. Of course, lol. The Beck Diet Solution is what finally rid me of the last ten pounds!

I'll bet no one ever told you - I think you're eating too many veggies. OR - I think you need a little more sugar in your diet!
I avoid sugar as much as possible and I fill my meals with as many non-starchy veggies as I can. Sugar and starch are not my friends. Avoid sugar and starch and eat all the plants you can!

It's good to be drug free! No meds other than supplements!

I'm Karen and I'm retired, healthy, happy, and want to be thinner!

I lost about 20 lbs before I found SparkPeople. Now I'm reaching for a LOWER goal than before, (Dr. approved) but feel confident I can do it! The M-WORD - MODERATION- is the most important AND most difficult goal for me to attain. In fact, Moderation is a Four Letter Word, lol, in my book anyway.

Of the time I invest in trying to get/stay healthy, 25% is spent trying to lose another pound and 75% is spent managing chronic pain. So don't expect my weight loss ticker to break any speed records!

The biggest motivation for me seems to be sharing with others of like mind, along the sometimes rocky, hilly road to a healthier lifestyle.

Others inspire me, amaze me, tickle me, engage me emotionally and just remind me that besides the DIET RACE, I'm in the HUMAN RACE.

I'm aiming for a fit and healthy body, free from chronic pain.

My Program:
I'v come to realize I simply have to eat LESS. I also try to move more in any way I can. Old injuries keep me from doing much consistent exercise, but water activities save the day.

Personal Information:
I'm a native Texan living in Central Texas. I retired a little early, at age 58. I wake up each day expecting HAPPINESS. It's a great thing to look forward to.

Other Information:
My interests include oil and watercolor painting.

I've decided that my main "work" after retirement is keeping my body healthy and banishing pain and debility that tries to creep up on me.

    I'm just not keeping up. NOW I get it Karen. No, I haven't read the Barbara Vine book but I've written it down for my next trip to the library which might be in a few minutes. Thanks for mentioning it. You would think that where I have so few Spark friends that I could keep up and especially where I spend TOO MUCH time online. But it's on other things and I MUST break this habit.

    Yes, I know you told me to never leave again. But, hey, sorry, I'm that kind of girl. :o( I am still struggling with my weight and health but only 30 more pounds to goal. Back on the low carb wagon. I guess you can say I cherish you guys as real friends. The saying goes that real friends can be away for long periods of time and when they get back together it's like no time has passed. At least this is what I hope. I can not promise I will stay committed to typing but it is what I want.
