HAPPINESS IS AN INSIDE JOB!

I'll bet no one ever told you - I think you're eating too many veggies. OR - I think you need a little more sugar in your diet!
I avoid sugar as much as possible and I fill my meals with as many non-starchy veggies as I can. Sugar and starch are not my friends. Avoid sugar and starch and eat all the plants you can!

I'm Karen and I'm retired, healthy, happy, and want to be thinner!

I lost about 20 lbs before I found SparkPeople. Now I'm reaching for a LOWER goal than before, (Dr. approved) but feel confident I can do it! The M-WORD - MODERATION- is the most important AND most difficult goal for me to attain. In fact, Moderation is a Four Letter Word, lol, in my book anyway.



Welcome to my page! My name is KAREN. (Unless I type too fast and leave out the A - which happens often and that's how I became KREN)

Of the time I invest in trying to get/stay healthy, 25% is spent trying to lose another pound and 75% is spent managing chronic pain. So don't expect my weight loss ticker to break any speed records!

The biggest motivation for me seems to be sharing with others of like mind, along the sometimes rocky, hilly road to a healthier lifestyle.

My Goals:
I'm aiming for a fit and healthy body, free from chronic pain.

My Program:
I'v come to realize I simply have to eat LESS. I also try to move more in any way I can. Old injuries keep me from doing much consistent exercise, but water activities save the day.

Personal Information:
I'm a native Texan living in Central Texas. I retired a little early, at age 58. I wake up each day expecting HAPPINESS. It's a great thing to look forward to.

Other Information:
My interests include oil and watercolor painting.

I've decided that my main "work" after retirement is keeping my body healthy and banishing pain and debility that tries to creep up on me.

Thanks for your comment on my blog, I agree, it is all about gathering at the table together with healthy good and good company. I have been asked to return as coordinator of Food Day in my area by the Center for Science in the Public Interest. This comming year will be my 5th I think.

My sis has never had Shingles before and she did not get the shot. Her Doc. says it could last for up to three months. She has them on the inside of her body. Remember her in your prayers.
