Getting Back on Track...

I'm 41 y/o woman, finally happy in most aspects of my life, and now I need to become happy with my body and my health. This is my RE-start in that direction.

I began at SparkPeople on New Years 2007 and did well for 4 months...but I blew it. Now I have been diagnosed with diabetes so it's time to really get serious!!! I know that I am the captain of my fate and it is time that I get honest and took control and did something about those areas that need work...my weight and my ...

I am the one who got me to 228.8 lbs, worked hard to lose 23 lbs only to backslide....and only I can take me back down from there! I worked hard for a few months then gave up...but only I can pick myself up, dust myself off, and get back at it....and I AM!

My Goals:
I want to not only lose the extra weight that I am carrying around but get my diabetes under control, become healthier, exercise more (and learn to enjoy it), stretch and strength train, lower my high B/P, and hopefully even lengthen my life!

I WILL do it!

My Program:
First and foremost, use Spark EVERYDAY!

I track every single bite that goes into my mouth!!! Less eating out, more cooking nutritious meals at home; less processed foods and more whole grains / healthy / organic / fresh foods; no more sugar (Splenda will be my substitute) or white flour; drink LOTS of water; incorporate fiber, fresh veggies/fruits and exercise is no longer a dirty word!

Those changes alone have gotten me well on my way.

Personal Information:
I am from Hamilton, Alabama; wife to my soulmate, mother of two fantastic grown daughters, step-mom to a great 11 y/o son, and Nana to the most precious 3 y/o there is, Noah.

I have a great life, love my family dearly, just bought our first house (and LOVE IT!), and am job hunting, yet again!

Other Information:
Sooner or later, you start taking yourself seriously. You know when you need a break. You know when you need a rest. You know what to get worked up about and what to get rid of. And you know when it's time to take care of yourself, for yourself. To do something that makes you stronger, faster, more complete. Because you know it's never too late to have a life. And never too late to change one.

Hello!
Thank you for the advice!! I really appreciate it and you really motivated me because I was so caught up in the "I haven't exercised yet or lost much weight" mode that I didn't even notice I cut out a lot of my sweets, I also log everything that I eat (scary!), and almost every single day I drink MORE than 8 glasses. Thank you for opening my eyes! :) And congratulations on everything you've accomplished so far, good luck!
