Healthier living for a healthier me!

Hello, my name is Amber!

Hello, my name is Amber!

I try and concentrate on my strengths, my blessings, and all the good things in my life. It's worth it!

I was diagnosed with gluten intolerance on 10/08/10 (my fourth wedding anniversary!) which totally changed the way I eat and look at food. I'm feeling better and finding out the random other foods that just don't sit well with me.

It's frustrating. Food allergies are readily accepted, but food intolerances are pushed to the side. Because so many people claim an "intolerance" when they are really just following a diet trend.

If I could eat gluten, I would. Gluten-free products try their best, but nothing beats the real thing. I'm still working on discovering the various things that trigger digestive pain for me.

Whatever your journey, whatever your path, I wish you success. Losing weight/getting healthy isn't easy, but it's worth it.

My Goals:
My goal is simply to be healthier. Losing the weight is a big motivator to treat my body better.

Then to continue on!

My Program:
My husband, Aubrey, and I like taking walks together.

We were going to quit the gym for the summer, but I was missing it terribly. There are just too many excuses for me without it. "It's too hot to work out" "I'm tired" etc. But once I'm at the gym; I'm there. All excuses must fade away because I'm paying for it darn it! I have to get my money's worth! Luckily another gym was running a deal so now we're back at the gym and it's not costing as much as before.

We also both enjoy yoga, pilates, and tennis.

It is for sure one of the scariest decisions you'll have to make! But honestly, once you get there... you just feel so RELIEVED! The hardest thing is actually just getting yourself there. I'm a pretty open person so it was easy enough for me to just let it all go.. but if you find yourself not liking the therapist that you're with then you can just request someone else. All they really want is to help us, and they understand that not everyone is going to be cool with them. I don't know if you have any sort of counseling offered through your work, but that's how I got started and they can even start to do sessions over the phone if you're really that nervous to go in person. You could also ask someone to come with you so that in case you have an anxiety attack, someone could be there with you helping you to feel better.

I'm not sure if you've been talking to your regular doctor about it either.. but they could help by prescribing medication to take. It's not for everyone.. and I do advise to do your research before taking it, but it was one of the best decisions I made in my life. After it started working along with the therapy, the only thing I could think of was 'why did I wait so long'? life is possible without anxiety attacks.. let that be the motivation you need to get some help dealing with them!

let me know if you have any other questions! And I'm sorry if I'm coming across as pushy... I don't mean to be, I just hate to see people suffer from stuff like that because I know how hard it is.. but I also know that it can be dealt with!
