Healthier living for a healthier me!

Hello, my name is Amber!

I try and concentrate on my strengths, my blessings, and all the good things in my life. It's worth it!

I was diagnosed with gluten intolerance on 10/08/10 (my fourth wedding anniversary!) which totally changed the way I eat and look at food. I'm feeling better and finding out the random other foods that just don't sit well with me.

It's frustrating. Food allergies are readily accepted, but food intolerances are pushed to the side. Because so many people claim an "intolerance" when they are really just following a diet trend.

If I could eat gluten, I would. Gluten-free products try their best, but nothing beats the real thing. I'm still working on discovering the various things that trigger digestive pain for me.

Whatever your journey, whatever your path, I wish you success. Losing weight/getting healthy isn't easy, but it's worth it.

My Goals:
My goal is simply to be healthier. Losing the weight is a big motivator to treat my body better.

Then to continue on!

My Program:
My husband, Aubrey, and I like taking walks together.

We were going to quit the gym for the summer, but I was missing it terribly. There are just too many excuses for me without it. "It's too hot to work out" "I'm tired" etc. But once I'm at the gym; I'm there. All excuses must fade away because I'm paying for it darn it! I have to get my money's worth! Luckily another gym was running a deal so now we're back at the gym and it's not costing as much as before.

We also both enjoy yoga, pilates, and tennis.

Hi there, was just on MDTWEETY's account because I saw something in friend feed or a huddle?? (Maybe on same team??)... noticed your comments on her blog, about the Vitamix from last year....

They are expensive, but if you can get ahold of an older model (like if you find one of the 70's vintage machines at a garage sale etc.) you can order a refurbished one online (which saves about $100 off the prices right then - if you are willing to take a refurbished one). Then, when ordering, tell them you have an older model (doesn't matter if it works or if you have all the accessories, lid, if container is broken, tamper stick etc.), and they will send you the paperwork for processing a trade-in. You pay the full price for your new or refurbished Vitamix, then you mail yours back in with their paperwork (has the tracking numbers and coordination numbers etc.), and then when they receive it and verify it is connected to your order, they credit your card or send you check depending on how you paid, for $100 for the trade-in value of the older model. So that's another way to get a cheaper price total. Also many times the other stuff that comes from some of their "package deals" (like the raw food cookbook, hemp bags, etc.) can be obtained elsewhere on the Internet like eBay or Amazon a lot cheaper then their price bundled in the package deal.

Also maybe you can set up a budget in SparkBudget or whatever that sister site is, and use it as a reward for new goals you might have?? Just a thought!!

Hope that helps!?

Julia
