I'm losing half my body weight, the worst half, the half that is fat.
It's important to me to keep the pressure off. I weigh daily, but I don't stress and scream and swear if the number isn't down. This is truly a lifestyle change for me, it has to be. And if my lifestyle is one of health--moderate amounts of healthy, natural foods and exercise which constantly challenges my body to get stronger--the weight will come off when it's ready. I just have to be consistent and make good decisions day to day.
I feel so much better--more energy, my body moves more easily, I can bend over and tie my shoes!! I actually enjoy working out (especially riding the bike) and miss it when I skip for too long. I've become stronger and more flexible. What's not to like???
15% of my start weight gone!!!! Lost 44 pounds so far. Slow and steady wins the race, right?
176 pounds of weight off my knees! They are so grateful. I've lowered my chances of diabetes, too.
Now on to the 20% lost goal! I can do this!
Eating sensibly...increase fruits and vegetables, no sugar, low fat, high fiber.
Lots and lots of exercise...it all counts for me. Pilates, water yoga, cardio (love that elliptical!), water aerobics and strength training. Plus, biking!!!! I stick to low or no impact, for the sake of the knees.
I am an artist, a wife, and a mother. I've been overweight to a greater or lesser degree for all my adult life. I've been pretty healthy, low blood pressure, low cholesterol, etc. However, my joints have started to give me trouble. I've long since lost the illusion of getting down to 105 pounds, but I do want to be strong and healthy and not have trouble walking. So that is my goal. Less about the weight lost than the health and strength gained.
5% loss=279.2 met 1/19/08!
10% loss=264.6 met 4/23/08!!
15% loss=250 met 9/27/08!!!

you made a interesting comment on a daily spark blog.. "Be careful where you hang out in cyber space".. it really hit home for me.. i have been involved on a particular thread for over a year and its been recently more negative , jealous and lots of drama... i get the comment about leaving a "hole" because its been a place of support for a long time.. ugh!! anyway, thanks for some food for thought as i contemplate my next move.. jen
