Happier, healthier, adventure...ier!
I'm so happy to be here on SparkPeople sharing a bit about me! My life has been turned upside down this past year and I couldn't be happier with my new direction. I was engaged to be married last August when I was unceremoniously dumped at the last minute. At the time I couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel, but that event ended up being one of the best things that has ever happened to me (and as a bonus I wound up finding SP). I had struggled with weight and food various times in my life since puberty and had every intention to get to my goal weight “one day”, but I could never find that oomph to actually be proactive about it. Well that changed! I had so much raw emotion and energy after the initial break up that I threw myself into exercise and eating well because damn it all, I would show him! Oh yes, I wanted to make him regret his decision with the “new me” and nothing would stand in my way. Great initial motivation, but after a few months I began to see how lucky I was! Time certainly gives you perspective and I missed seeing so many things in that relationship which were very unhealthy for me. Rose coloured glasses anyone? So what happened after that? Well my motivation became a bit more selfish, but in a good way. I started to really look at who I was as a person and what I wanted in life. What started off as, “I'll show him!” turned into, “I want to do this for me because I'm worth it!”. I'm getting healthy by eating well and exercising, growing as a person by becoming more adventurous and less fearful, and actually setting goals because I believe in myself and I know I'll succeed!
