OCTOBER 2014

Sometimes I feel like i am on a Roller Coaster - life seems to be settling down and then there is another sharp drop.

OCTOBER 2014

Sometimes I feel like i am on a Roller Coaster - life seems to be settling down and then there is another sharp drop.

Last year i lost my oldest son to Cancer - and now i have learned that my sister has cancer - and may be in the later stages. She has known since January, but has just let me know. She lives in Medford - so it is not easy for me to visit - but will see how it goes.

I have a time tracking my diet and my activities - but have learned that I do so much better when i take the time to. The two things i have the most struggle with are drinking enough water and getting to the club where i have a membership. And that i pay for each month!! I am continually resolving to do better and do for a while and then just get distracted by other things.

Not going to set any goals for the rest of this month - am just going to post what i do each day and see where i end up.

“Excuses or achievement

Do you live each day focused on excuses? Or are you instead focused on achievement?

If you’re focused on excuses, you won’t even make an attempt unless you’re sure you’ll get it perfect. When you’re focused on achievement, though you may not get it completely perfect, you will get it done.

If you’re focused on excuses, the slightest obstacle will stop you cold. When you’re focused on achievement, you’ll work your way through any challenge.

If you’re focused on excuses, you’ll avoid unfamiliar or uncomfortable situations. When you’re focused on achievement, you’ll seek out new, invigorating circumstances and will find great value in them.

Excuses sound reasonable, and enable you to be temporarily satisfied with yourself for doing nothing more than thinking them up. In the long run, though, excuses can bury you under a mountain of missed opportunities.

Let go of the easy excuses, and grab on to a burning desire for meaningful achievement. Focus not on excuses, but on real achievement, and you’ll bring a profusion of that great, satisfying achievement into your world.”

Holidays are coming! Here are some tips to help you “maintain” when temptation strikes:
1. Eat something small and healthy before the “big meal”.
2. Exercise every day – even the holiday. Take the family with you.
3. It’s ok to have dessert, but only a SMALL one.
4. Track what you eat. If you have to put it in writing and be accountable, you’ll be less tempted to overeat.
5. Downsize your portions – especially of the high-calorie dishes.
6. Save calories for food you love and don’t eat the things you don’t “LOVE” just because they’re there or because it’s tradition.
7. Spend more time talking with your loved ones and friends instead of eating.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving and Don't Give Up!

I applaud your knitting hats for the homeless. I knit 10 chemo caps and delivered them to the cancer society. They were truly appreciated. Yours is a good work. Blessings on your for reaching out to others.

Good morning Barb, hope you're well.

The weather's been cold and wet somedays, autumn is upon us!
We managed to do a bit of gardening but the ground is so soggy, it doesn't seem like a traditional autumn, not many nicely coloured leaves , some of the trees are leafless and others still green...very peculiar!

lt's cold and showery today but l'm going in to town for my Slimming World class then on to Leahs for the rest of the day which l shall enjoy, won't see much of them next week as Belle is in a dance competition in London so they're going down there. l don't think they expect to win but the experience will be fantastic for her.
They've been doing the Great Fire of London at school so she wants to go to Pudding Lane to see where the fire started and they're also going to see the show 'Matilda' as an early Christmas present for her.
Leah wants to go and see the poppy tribute at the Tower of London, it looks fantastic on the tv and a wonderful tribute to the fallen...wish l was going too!

Hope you have a wonderful day, keep up with the walking and water emoticon emoticon

"A 'no' and a 'yes' are all it takes to lose weight. Say 'no' to sitting on the couch; say 'yes' to working out. Say 'no' to crazy diet plans; say 'yes' to freshly cooked meals. Say 'no' to your naysayers; say 'yes' to your inner voice." (Unknown)
