Now trying to maintain...

I have lost a total of about 65 pounds since starting my quest to get into better shape. I ran a marathon last year for the first (and probably last) time. Now, I am in a maintain mode and finding it harder to maintain than to lose since the goals are not as lofty.

I think I am done with 5K runs. Now I will be doing longer runs and hill/speed work.

The plan is the same one my son used. He just pulled it from the internet. It is a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, with a long Saturday run. The Saturday builds to 20 miles, two weeks before the race.

I pulled the hammy two days after my son was born in 1987 and I continue to pull it on a regular basis. It sucks getting old.

Is your 16 week program one of your own creation or a published plan?

The hamstrings must be all that speed that you generate!

Yes, right now I am doing 3x 5K per week at about 6.7 MPH. I plan to start a 16 week regimen at the beginning of the year. I will have to see how the rest of the month goes. I have pulled hamstrings in the past and that is my main concern.

I am sure you can get into the 20's. Just bump up the speed each week.
