Hey all, My name is MaraLee, I'm 21 and currently living with my parents itching to get out. I'm currently wourking at a martial arts place, doing martial arts and kick boxing to lose weight for the USAF(hopefully).

Hey all, My name is MaraLee, I'm 21 and currently living with my parents itching to get out. I'm currently wourking at a martial arts place, doing martial arts and kick boxing to lose weight for the USAF(hopefully).

So this is a new start for me. I use to be on SparkTeens but lost track. I had been on for a year and a half before I stopped, and lost a smidge of weight. Unfortunally I'm back to where I started..... I've decided to switch Facebook for SparkPeople. I'm hoping it will help me get my lazy butt off the computer on on a flippen tredmill.

As you can tell by my name I want to be an Airman. For those who don't know what that it, it's a member of the United States Air Force. My dream is to be a USAF Photographer, it's been my goal since I was 12. But to join any military branch you have to be in shape....so here I am...again...starting from scratch. The weight imit for my height in the AF is 220, so thats my first goal. Eventually I want to go under 200, that would be awesome, but I need to start small.


So here I go! Off to start a new page in my life. :) Wish me luck...truuust me I'll need it.

I'm still hanging in there. I put together an exercise bike last week, so I've been using that when I watch tv for a few shows. (It's an upright bike so the seat hurts my butt, lol) I actually just got done with a 25 minute workout. I haven't been that active on here, but I'm still working towards the Air Force. I haven't been making it to the gym, so your muscles are probably farther along on their way to getting ripped than mine!

Oh, I'm also on MyFitnessPal.com now. There's a Future Military group on there too with a small group of active people.

How have you been? Sorry about the loooonnng story before, lol. Hope it helped a little though.

I don't think you should give up on the Tough Mudder. I had signed up for the Flying Pig Half-Marathon two years ago, planning on having trained for about seven months before race day. Instead, I got sick with bronchitis for like two months and then just... didn't train. But I had told everyone I was going to do the half. I was 230 pounds then, I couldn't run a 5k, and yet I was stubborn enough to still go through with the half just because I had told everyone I WAS GOING TO DO IT.

And so I did.

And it hurt like hell. I was ready to give up and call a cab by mile 7, feeling worthless by mile 8, unworthy of the support of the people on the sidelines by mile 10. But I just kept putting my feet in front of each other. By the last half mile, I couldn't even walk at a quick pace. I shambled along to the finish line, and when I FINALLY crossed the line, I was so elated when they put that medal around my neck. I was exhausted, but that was the biggest accomplishment I'd ever achieved. I pushed through 13.1 miles with absolutely no support from my friends or family. There was no one waiting for me at the finish line, but I had made it. No one could ever take away that accomplishment or downplay the strength it took for me to get to the end.

I think the confidence alone of pushing through it and finishing will be worth whatever pain it takes to get there. Just because you haven't reached whatever weightloss goal doesn't determine how strong you are. If you are determined to do it, you will.

I told myself I was taking it easy to let my knee recover, but I ended up just totally slacking off. I'm bumping up my strength workout though. I really am intimidated by the pullup machine, but I know I am going to benefit from it so much. I cannot do the monkey bars. Like, at all. I have not been able to do them my entire life. So along with trying to meet the fitness standards, my training is also focusing on getting me to be able to handle the obstacle course and the, what, 20 feet of monkey bars over a 10 ft drop into water? I think that is the part that is making me the most anxious about BMT, lol. Can you do the monkey bars? Have you watched videos of the course?

Yay for 21! I'm working on my fourth year of being 21 :P

I'm a gym gal. I HATE being out in the cold, so no brisk winter jogs for me. My program is primarily walking at a decent incline with a little bit of running thrown in each week. I'm trying to build up again. I ran for 7 minutes today, so yay! I'm also following a strength training program from sparkpeople using my gym equipment, though I may have been overzealous when I first tried it out; I used the assisted pullup machine and really pushed myself, resulting in the inability to extend my arm the next two days because one of my muscles was too tight. It was a learning experience. Next week, I'm going to start attending a cardio boxing class at my gym. When my feet get used to being active again, I want to start working out twice a day. But for now, baby steps.

How often do you meet with your trainer? Are you a morning or night person?
