It's time to MOM UP

Firstly, thanks for visiting my Sparkpage! My name is Ally. I once heard someone say the phrase in my title. She said that when the stuff hits the fan, the saying shouldn't be that someone needs to "Man Up" but rather that they need to "Mom Up". I think of this statement every time my energy flags. She said that when the stuff hits the fan, the saying shouldn't be that someone needs to "Man Up" but rather that they need to "Mom Up". I think of this statement every time my energy flags. It's definitely time for me to mom up!

I've been overweight or obese my entire life. I simply don't remember a "me" when being fat wasn't a part of the definition of me. I was never smaller than 260 and a 22/24 size jeans when I was in high school, and my highest weight was 325 lbs and I was wearing a 26/28.

Like many, I made repeated, failed attempts to lose the weight. Sometimes I had help or "help" (in the case of some of the programs which I think were less helpful and more harmful), and sometimes I tried it myself. Part of my philosophy is to look back on each of these failed attempts not as failures, but as learning opportunities. Each time I did seem to be a little more successful. Now I have the tools I need to make it to the finish line, and I'm not giving up. It's not a diet anymore, it's a way of life!

So far I have lost more than 80 lbs, and I am at an all time lowest weight for my adult life. I'm not doing it just for me anymore. I'm doing it to be here and healthy for my precious little son and our family!

11.19.10 Down 80 lbs.
11.13.10 Hit the halfway point. Down over 75 lbs.
10.18.10 Made my first long term weight loss goal. (250 lbs)
10.16.10 St. Judes Benefit 5k (40.52)

It's time to bounce back from my pregnancy! I'm starting back with walking and yoga (I do a lot of walking in my new lifestyle anyway!) Soon I'll be jogging again. I can't WAIT to run again!
