The Year of the HourGlass-----

Figure that is. This is the year I will get my figure back. I am 55 and want to look my best, be healthy and start getting out more! I am a wife , a mother, a grandmother and an employee. But MOST OF ALL.... I AM ME! I refuse to get old and will go down fighting. I used to look younger than my age but have let myself dwindle backwards and seek to get my old self back. This is my year! I was born in 55 and now I am 55 . I see magic in that number .... so MY NEW goal. Weigh 155! LET'S ...

My Goals:
I want to be healthier at 55 than I was at 40. I have 1 year as of NOV 28th to lose my goal weight of 30 lbs and improve my stamina and strength so I can go on hikes with my husband.

My Program:
I am following Spark meals and watching my nutrition. I plan to avoid fast food and pre packaged food as much as possible. Being a new member of the YMCA , I am going to the gym at least 3 times a week.

Personal Information:
I am a Tennessee native who works as a dispatcher for 911. I have 3 grandchildren ( started young), a daughter and step daughter and a wild and crazy hubby that is my best friend. We are in this weight loss thing together!

Other Information:
I love to write, watch movies, work in my garden and with my animals. I like walking, hiking, flea markets, re-decorating, music and motorcycles . I am trying to learn stained glass and taking up sewing and quilting. I am planning a road trip out West .

UPDATE: Went to the doctor for my check up and had the nurse check my weight since the last visit in march . I had lost 7 lbs. Since then I have lost 1 more lb for a total of 8. YEAH! Relaxing a little has helped. I have to stay focused, but not obsess and think of nothing else. At least that is what works for me. I was beating myself up too much therefore setting myself up to fail. Relax, this is a life change , not a diet. emoticon

Okay , I had gained and been up and down for I cant say how long but have gotten back on the points system of keeping up and tried not to think SSOOO much about every morsel as I do just relaxing and making the weight loss secondary in my mind... it seems to have worked. I lost 4 lbs this week and didn't starve and don't seem to be having the emotional turmoil. This stemmed from a conversation with a friend about how when we obsess and think about it all the time I do terrible, but when I wasn't trying to lose weight and constantly planning and measuring and stressing I don't seem to have the sympathy cravings and bad day binges as much. Simply.... I don't like being told what to do I guess...feeling like I am being controlled. Silly and contradicting I know. I have logged everyday and simply packed my lunch bag at night but somehow internally not struggled with do I have 3 oz of protein and so many grams of carbs etc, etc and decided if i lose I lose but just count the points and go on. Its all mental with me apparently. We will see. emoticon
