I am doing this for me because I can....
My name is Therese. I live on the central coast of California, just south of Pismo Beach and north of Santa Barbara. I have always enjoyed walking and it has always been my favorite form of exercise and stress relief. But I never really used it for the purpose of weight control. I just did not drive a car until I was 40 and I walked, rode buses, or got rides, everywhere. Then when I got a car, and license that kind of stopped happening and the weight began to increase. My name is Therese. I live on the central coast of California, just south of Pismo Beach and north of Santa Barbara. I have always enjoyed walking and it has always been my favorite form of exercise and stress relief. But I never really used it for the purpose of weight control. I just did not drive a car until I was 40 and I walked, rode buses, or got rides, everywhere. Then when I got a car, and license that kind of stopped happening and the weight began to increase. I really did not notice so much, but then THE DIVORCE STARTED and oh my gosh, food was my only vice for a while. I did notice and joined a gym, I began working out and everytime I went to court I looked better and better, but then I stopped and ALL the weight and inches came back quicker than I could ever imagine and the depression I have always battled came back hard, only a few of my good friends knew how bad it was inside, I wanted to die. Even though I never thought about killing myself, I just did not want to deal with the world. And everyday I got up and had to pretend to want to be there. But, that changed when I signed up to do 2 different breast cancer walks in San Francisco, the Avon walk (39.3 miles in 2 days) and the Breast cancer 3 day (60miles in 3 days). I commited to raising a total of $4000.00 and raised more, and I began training for the walks, doing yoga, and I was working full time as well. My life changed a great deal --again- and today being healthy is a wonderful way to live, and I have to say that Spark people has added a new awareness of my eating habits, and I am losing weight, that I thought would never go away. I was eating more than I was burning in calories thinking that it was ok, because of all the walking I was doing. Even my walking has changed because I challenge myself to go farther, faster, on inclines and more, I do yoga and it has helped keep my emotional wellbeing in some kind of sanity. I really like Sparkpeople and it is a wonderful addition to my tool box for life. thank you Sparkpeople

My Goals:
I would like to really live a healthier life. My goal weigh is 140 lbs. March 1, 2010 weight 163 DAILY GOAL: Track everything I eat. Stop emotional eating in evenings. WEEKLY GOAL; Work out at least 5 hours a week total or more. Treadmill is my favorite, everyday. Stretching everyday Yoga everyday at least some. Strength training 3 times a week MONTHLY GOAL: Lose 6-10 lbs. IN A YEAR: BE ABLE TO WEAR A SIZE 6-8 JEANS AND HIKE MY FAVORITE TRAIL IN SLO COUNTY IN LESS THAN AN HOUR OR DO IT TWICE IN A ROW.
My Program:
1. Track what I eat. 2. Track what I workout. 3. BE POSITIVE ABOUT MY GOALS.
Personal Information:
I live in Santa Maria CA, with my Father, that I love very much. I am single, in my 40's but feel much younger LOL. I have 2 little dogs, that I adore and take care of my father's large dog too. I enjoy walking on my treadmill, hiking, yoga, the beach, I am a vegetarian, working on becoming vegan. I am spiritual but not religious. I don't drink, use drugs, smoke cigarettes, or play loud music.
Other Information:
My favorite books are: the big book of AA and the basic text of NA. I have also recently read: The SPARK (of course) The China Study Skinny Bitch a few vegan/vegetarian cookbooks. and I receive SHAPE, HEALTH, WEIGHT WATCHERS, YOGA JOURNAL, NATURAL HEALTH, WESTWAYS, AND VEGETARIAN TIMES magazines. I am not the nicest person I know, so I work on it.
