I'm trying to do cardio a minimum of 20-30 minutes per day. Strength training twice a week , playing the Wii and running/walking 15-30 minutes 2x per week.
Following Canada's food guide for diabetics, with weight loss in mind, and using an adapted Sparkpeople nutrition plan.

Hey Kandi, just thinking of you while I'm home today on our 3rd snow day off from school. We were off Monday, in Tuesday and off yesterday and today. Tomorrow, who knows? That would be nice, since Monday's a holiday! I'm getting greedy. Trying to do a bit of exercising today and yesterday. Catching up with Sparkfriends, etc. I need to go crack open my school bag and mark some papers! Hope things are going well for you! Take care, Kim

Hope you've been able to dig out from all your snow and that you're staying warm and safe!

Hi Kandi! I think about you often, especially at school trying to get through to my girls...also known as "mouths with sneakers"....How's your mentoring going? I signed up to formally mentor a 6th grade girl and we really hit it off and then the principal kicked her out of school for using her grandmother's address. Can you believe that? She didn't have to do that after we started working together. Oh well...the beat goes on.
I've signed up for the SP Bootcamp Challenge, along with a whole lotta other out of shape middle agers who are already cringing at the preview video...lol! I'm psyched to bump up my effort for the new year, glad the season of temptations has passed! I hope you enjoyed a lovely holiday! I've been luxuriating in the freedom of this week away from school and getting to know my newest kittie, Mr. Sparky. He's a doll-a cuddler and a sweetheart. The rest of the crew is coming around and the hissing and growling has pretty much stopped.I got to meet one of my local SparkFriends at her synagogue's Hannukah bazaar, that was fun, and will meet up for coffee next weekend with another local. When we return to school I'll be the 5th grade literacy teacher (had been Science and SS, at least it's the same kids so I'm not exactly starting all over. I'm moving into a new room, bequeathed to me by my former grade partner who had enough of the district's you know what and decided to retire midyear. She's been in that room for 23 years, but thankfully, was not a horrible packrat. School was very trying and depressing for the first 2 months or so, but has steadily been improving and is almost palatable....for now. When life hands you lemons....well, I'm trying to make diet lemonade! SP has really changed my life, my outlook on life, and I just can't say enough good things about my experience here. Keep up the great work on your nutrition, diabetes management, and fitness! I'm so proud of you! hugs, Kim and the Phurballs
