I have been exercising and eating healthy since I was 18 - it has been a constant struggle to maintain a healthy balance without going overboard on my fitness routine and diet plan. I found babyfit when pregnant with my first child, who was born 5 weeks premature, on August 8, 2008. Although I do not have to lose as much weight as I had anticipated since my daughter arrived early, I was looking forward to joining this group, which began as an offshoot of our September 2008 due date club on Babyfit.

My new challenge (aside of taking care of my beautiful baby girl) is to get back into a fitness routine. I had an emergency c-section and have been limited to short walks for the time being, and it will probably stay that way for the first 6 weeks, while all the toned muscle I had turns to mush! Before becoming pregnant I worked out for about 90 minutes a day, and while pregnant I kept strong at 60 minutes at low intensity. I realize with a new baby and changing life demands, that is not going to be possible. I am hoping to find a routine somewhere in the middle that will work with my new life.

I do not have specific weight goals, I have actually lost most of my pregnancy weight since I am breastfeeding and they fed me very little for the 5 days I was in the hospital - I came home starving!

I plan to go back to work in 3 months and I know it will be difficult to take care of my daughter, exercise and work full time. I am looking forward to the support of this Spark Team & my Babyfit mommies to help keep me motivated and to share tips on exercise, diet and a healthy life balance in this next exciting phase of my life.

My Program:
I work out everyday, first thing in the morning after my coffee & a light breakfast. I go for a light run or walk & then do a dvd with a light weight workout. Then I eat my second breakfast! On weekends sometimes I treat myself to longer workouts, because it makes me feel so good. When I can, I also work in bits of fitness throughout the day, like a little 10 minute cardio booster or a walk with the baby.

I eat lowfat protein, whole grains, some fruit and tons of vegetables. I eat a lot, keep the focus on nutritional foods (for the most part!). I pay attention to how food makes me feel and act accordingly. I really limit white flour and even certain fruits because they make me hungrier, and I hate to be hungry!

I have a treat every evening - healthy of course, but I have a sweet tooth that must be satisfied. I do not believe in deprivation or starvation, whether I am dieting or maintaining. I have always been successful with my goals without having to feel hungry
