Winning is getting up one more time than you fall

Oh, SparkPeople, how I have fallen off the wagon. I started on here 2 years ago and managed to lose about 20 lbs quickly. Then Ms Laziness (you know, the lady that tells you to buy the potato chips and not move until you eat them all and other bad advice like that) showed up in the guise of someone I thought I would marry. After watching someone bring nothing but junk into my house and a lovely medication that packed on about forty pounds, I'm not happy with where I am right now. That's okay, I ...
That's okay, I know I don't have to stay here.

I've always been heavy save for a few years of young childhood. I look at my daughter now and know that I don't want her struggling down the same path as I. I don't want her to deal with the cruel fat jokes, the isolation, the inability to do things because she's just too big.

I know the best way to teach her is to lead by example so I'm swapping the ice cream for light yogurt, the chips for carrots and celery (this is the hard one, I'm a salt freak) and hoping to do away with the soda and drink tea instead. I'm going to hoist my behind from the couch and walk in the evenings now that it's not too hot, I'll even make time to use the state of the art gym I have access to as a student. None of these things will be easy but I know I'm more than equal to the challenge.

In March 2012, I graduate from college with a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies, the following fall I hope to be in graduate school for my MSW. All this change will be hard to adjust to but I'm truly so excited about where I'm going and how far I've come that I know I'll be able to handle it with a smile on my face about 78% of the time :)

Hey sis, great minds think alike...or is that great "behinds" ha ha...I kill me. Anyhoo, was thinking that I needed to get back to it. So here I am. the last note you left on my page was last year about doing Bloomsday. Maybe we should make that a goal and I can start saving and planning for the trip down..altho you might be up by that time. If you are we can look for something up here. Riverfest is in June and they have a 5K I believe that is a run/walk. I'm in..you? emoticon

Just dropped by to say - Hi. and welcome you to The “Chair Exercise” Team
emoticon
Welcome to the most friendly, most supportive team in SparkPeople land!! - Please feel free to jump in and join in the message boards. It has been proved that people who contribute to message boards and blog regularly lose more weight, more easily than those who don’t, so come on in.
It is a great place to be and you will find lots of friends, ideas and links to help and support you at all stages on your journey.
I suggest that you leave your Sparkmail turned on for this team so that you receive the monthly Chair Exercise Team E-Magazine – Chair Treasures – as well as any important notices.
To help you on your way I have sent you a Sparkmail with resources for exercises that are suitable for those whose mobility is limited, whether by age, physical problems or time. I hope you will find it a useful reference.
I hope you succeed in all the goals you set.
Enjoy the journey
