On the run...

Hi! My name is Dené and I'm a running newbie. I started running to train for the Maui Marathon, which took place in September, and now I'm training for the LA Marathon scheduled for next March. I thought the running would be a great way to get into better shape and lose weight, but it hasn't happened the way I'd hoped. So I'm here to get some more support from people whose goals are similar to mine. Let's help each other!

My Goals:
To get rid of my belly and tone up my thighs and butt.

My Program:
The main part of my program is running. I'm training for a marathon so I run twice a week on my own, then do a group run with my fellow marathoners once a week. I try to throw in some cross-training, but that's where I struggle. I'm not giving up!

Welcome to SparkPeople! I have been a member for a while, but have only just begun using SP for all that it is worth. Tracking your food is essential for loosing weight. I have also found much motivation on the fitness front and went from thinking “I need to loose weight”, to “I need to get fit”. The difference in attitude has improved my overall outlook. I owe a lot of that to SP.

Do not get overwhelmed. Take it slow. Find one or two groups that fit your goals and get to know the people in the group with you.
