I'm Ready to Spark!

My Goals:
My goal is to get in better shape overall so that I have more energy, get my borderline high cholesteral in check, and feel good about my body. I want to tone up my muscles, increase my flexibility, and improve my endurance for cardio. I would love to be a runner, but in the past any attempts have failed. I am taking it slow and trying to work my way up to it this time. I want to drastically improve my eating habits and get more fruits and veggies in my diet, more calcium and iron, and reduce the sodium and fat. I've only realized since tracking my foods on SparkPeople that I also don't get nearly enough protein. So that's one more thing I'll need to keep an eye on.
My Program:
I am more conscious of what I eat and how much of it I eat. I exercise every day, even if it is only a short walk. This is MUCH easier for me to stick to - if I skip one day it usually turns into two, then three... If I tell myself I have to do at least SOMETHING every single day than I know that while I may wimp out and do a really easy workout, at least I'm doing something! I make sure to mix up my workouts both to keep me from getting bored and also to keep from overtraining any areas or getting injured.
Personal Information:
My name is Melissa, I am 33 years old and have been married for 8 years. My husband is very active and I hope that by improving my health I'll be able to enjoy more activities with him. (Maybe even learn to play tennis one day!) I love to encourage other people and am always thrilled to receive encouragement from others. It really puts a spring in my step and reminds me why I am doing this.
Other Information:
I love to read. I am a major bookworm! Some of my favorite authors are Karen Marie Moning, Janet Evanovich, Christine Feehan, Nora Roberts (& JD Robb), and Kathleen E. Woodiwiss. I have two adorable Chihuahuas, Pixie and Gypsy.
